Association for New Canadians is a non-profit, community-based organization dedicated to the provision of settlement and integration services for immigrants and refugees.
Job Title: ESL Instructors (Substitute)
Location: St. John’s, NL
Position Type: Multiple casual/on-call positions (with a possibility of up to 32.5 hours/week)
Closing date: November 03, 2025, or until filled
Reporting to the Director of Language Services, the ESL Instructor will assist adult learners in acquiring the language skills necessary to settle and integrate into Canadian society.
Roles and Responsibilities:

Prepare and deliver course materials (some resources are available)

Instruct students and provide appropriate direction and feedback
-
Evaluate students’ learning needs and adapt teaching style for success
-
Encourage the sharing of cultures and foster dialogue in Canadian society
-
Prepare and submit monthly reports
Qualifications and Experience:
-
Bachelor of Education and/or recognized TESL/TEFL Diploma/Certificate preferred, or equivalent training and experience
-
A passion for working with people from diverse cultures and varying educational backgrounds
-
Excellent command of English language, both written and oral
-
Experience in teaching/adult education and a strong commitment to student learning
Conditions of Employment:

Legal authorization to work in Canada
-
Flexible to work outside of core hours (Monday-Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm)
-
Position is subject to a satisfactory Criminal Record Screening and Vulnerable Sector Check from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary
