PostgreSQL Database Administrator – PostgreSQL, Clustering & Cloud Migration Required Skills & Qualifications
PostgreSQL Administration
- Proven experience as a PostgreSQL Database Administrator in enterprise environments.
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL architecture, including:
- WAL
- MVCC
- Vacuum processes
- Hands-on experience with RepMgr clustering, failover handling, and node recovery.
- Working knowledge of:
- Logical replication
- Streaming replication
Performance & Troubleshooting
- Expertise in:
- Performance tuning
- Query optimization
- Database troubleshooting
- Strong problem-solving skills for complex database issues.
Migration, Backup & Recovery
- Experience with migration strategies from on-premises environments to cloud platforms.
- Proficiency in:
- Backup and recovery
- Disaster recovery planning
- Familiarity with Oracle DBA technologies, including:
- RMAN
- GoldenGate
- Exadata
Technical Skills
- Experience with database automation tools:
- Ansible
- Terraform
- Knowledge of database monitoring tools:
- pgAdmin
- Prometheus
- Grafana
- Scripting experience using:
- Shell
- Python
- Similar automation scripting languages
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience automating database deployments and operational processes.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical teams.
