Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for an Occupational Therapist to join the Chronic Complex Care team at Willingdon Creek Village in Powell River, BC. Apply today to join our and team!

As an Occupational Therapist you will:

  • Provide occupational therapy services to clients to achieve quality client focused care and enable clients to develop healthy patterns of occupations.
  • Perform duties including:
    • Identifying and assessing client’s occupational performance issues utilizing an evidence‑based approach,
    • Planning and implementing goal directed services,
    • Evaluating the effectiveness of the service, and
    • Preparing and maintaining records.
  • Contribute to the organization and delivery of occupational therapy services, and participates in departmental/program quality assurance initiatives, meetings, research, and education.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy plus two (2) years’ recent related experience and or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Current full registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of British Columbia (COTBC).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of evidence‑based clinical practice related to designated clinical area.
  • Broad knowledge of occupational therapy standardized tests and measures.
  • Broad knowledge of occupational therapy theory and practice within a client and family centred model of care.
  • Broad knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in client care.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as a team member.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and empower clients to assume control over their health.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with co‑workers and clients both one‑on‑one of one‑on‑one and in groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective consultation.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others in a complex health care environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize when referral to another health care professional is required.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Skilled in the use of equipment, and in the techniques appropriate for occupational therapy treatment.
  • Basic computer literacy.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly‑funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
