The base salary will be $62,480 - $89,040 per annum. Starting salary will be aligned with the successful candidate’s experience, skills, and demonstrated qualifications.

About Us

The Centre for Research & Education on Violence Against Women & Children facilitates the collaboration of individuals, groups and institutions representing the diversity of the community to pursue research questions and training opportunities to understand and prevent violence and abuse. We serve local, national and international communities by producing useful information and tools to assist in the daily work to prevent and stop violence towards women and children and vulnerable adults.

Responsibilities

The Community Engagement Coordinator leads the planning and delivery of community-focused and public education initiatives within the Centre for Research & Education on Violence Against Women & Children. The role supports the successful design, implementation, and evaluation of project activities, ensuring alignment with project goals, timelines, and funding requirements. Working closely with project leads and a broad network of stakeholders, the Coordinator plays a key role in knowledge mobilization, supporting the development of accessible, plain language resources that incorporate intersectional perspectives to inform and engage a general public audience. The role contributes to advancing public education initiatives focused on preventing domestic homicide, intimate partner violence, and sexual violence, while promoting healthy relationships across communities.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline
  • Project Management Professional certification preferred

Experience:

  • 5 years of community engagement experience, preferably in the related field
  • 2 years of experience managing multiple projects in an academic/research environment is preferred
  • Experience coordinating logistics of research events and activities would be an asset

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of, and/or experience with, gender-based violence, including intimate partner violence and sexual harassment, would be an asset
  • Familiarity with techniques for planning, managing and coordinating multiple projects, with competing priorities that involve a variety of stakeholders with the ability to manage a project from conception to completion within tightly prescribed timelines
  • Knowledge of regulations and guidelines governing research in an academic environment
  • Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit
  • Verbal communication skills to clearly express ideas in an objective manner, and adapt communication style to suit the situation and audience
  • Communication skills with an ability to complete detailed analytics and reports
  • Ability to ensure confidentiality and privacy is maintained through the appropriate retention and destruction of information
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to plan and manage events of various sizes, with an ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the Centre’s events and activities
  • Ability to investigate defined issues, solicit input, and suggest remedies and alternative approaches that meet the needs of the situation
  • Proven ability and natural inclination to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
  • Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve department goals
