Head of Media & Digital Commerce Strategy About the Role The Head of Media & Digital Commerce Strategy is responsible for designing and governing an enterprise-wide digital commerce and media growth strategy. The role establishes the operating framework that enables Brand and Commercial teams to accelerate digital commerce performance across media, retail media, digital shelf, search, and analytics. Working closely with cross-functional stakeholders, this position develops scalable operating models, governance frameworks, performance measurement systems, and long-term digital commerce capabilities that drive sustainable business growth. Key Responsibilities Enterprise Digital Commerce Strategy Develop and own the end-to-end digital commerce operating model and growth framework. Define full-funnel media architecture spanning brand media, performance marketing, retail media, and search. Establish prioritization frameworks across brands, customers, and product portfolios. Translate commercial and marketing priorities into scalable digital commerce strategies. Develop operating rhythms, governance structures, and decision-making frameworks across teams. Media Strategy & Platform Partnerships Lead strategic relationships with key media and retail platform partners. Define annual media investment frameworks and governance principles. Establish innovation roadmaps and test-and-learn programs. Develop retail media standards aligned with commercial priorities. Collaborate with internal teams and agency partners to maximize platform performance. Agency Management & Operating Model Manage agency governance, scope of work, capability expectations, and performance reviews. Develop integrated planning and briefing processes across Marketing, Sales, and agency partners. Establish governance routines and performance standards. Ensure excellence in media activation, retail media execution, and campaign optimization. Coordinate planning and execution across internal and external stakeholders. Performance Measurement & Analytics Define enterprise KPI frameworks across digital commerce, media performance, and digital shelf metrics. Partner with Analytics teams to leverage Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM) and other measurement methodologies. Establish reporting frameworks and performance dashboards. Translate insights into investment recommendations and optimization opportunities. Create a single source of truth for digital commerce performance. Digital Shelf Strategy Develop enterprise standards for digital shelf excellence, including content, SEO, ratings and reviews, and product availability. Establish scorecards and reporting frameworks to monitor digital shelf performance. Partner with Commercial teams to prioritize high-value products and growth opportunities. Coordinate initiatives across digital shelf, agency, marketing technology, and IT teams. Drive consistent SEO and content optimization strategies across digital platforms. Capability Development & Governance Develop enterprise playbooks covering digital commerce, retail media, digital shelf management, measurement, and governance. Embed digital commerce into annual planning cycles, quarterly business reviews, and performance management processes. Develop tools, training programs, and governance frameworks to support cross-functional teams. Build long-term digital commerce capability and organizational maturity. Foster a culture of performance measurement, accountability, and continuous improvement. Requirements Education Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Analytics, or a related discipline. MBA or postgraduate qualification preferred. Experience 10+ years of experience in digital commerce, media strategy, retail media, omnichannel marketing, or related leadership roles. Proven experience designing scalable operating models and governance frameworks. Deep expertise in retail media, search, and full-funnel media strategy. Strong cross-functional leadership skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders. Experience within consumer goods, retail, consumer health, or omnichannel environments. Preferred Experience Designing and managing modern agency operating models. Strong understanding of Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM) and marketing analytics. Integrating media, digital shelf, and commerce strategies into commercial planning. Translating complex performance data into strategic investment decisions. Managing enterprise platform partnerships.
