Southampton Care Centre is a fully accredited long term care home in Southampton, Ontario and serves 88 residents. Southampton is a lakeside community on Lake Huron, known for its white sand beaches, historic downtown, and cultural arts scene. Situated at the mouth of the Saugeen River and approximately 49 km south of Owen Sound, it provides a peaceful atmosphere for residents and visitors alike, with diverse dining options, local shops, and activities suited for beach-goers and art enthusiasts.
Join our team as an Executive Director!
Under the direction of the Regional Director, Long-Term Care Operations, the Executive Director is responsible and accountable for the total operation of the long-term care home.This role ensures that the efficient operation of the entire home is carried out in accordance with the corporate mission, vision, values, philosophy, goals, objectives, policies, procedures and all legislative requirements.
Key duties include managing human resources and labour relations, preparing and maintaining fiscal responsibility for the annual budget, ensuring adequate resources for residents, implementing changing LTC concepts and trends, and planning marketing/public relations. The role also ensures compliance with all legislative requirements (including OHSA), enforcing continuous quality improvement and risk management, promoting safety, providing leadership through enhanced programs, and maintaining strong community linkages and relationships with other health providers. Finally, the Executive Director is responsible for supervising and mentoring senior managers, developing leadership in others, and actively participating in ongoing education.
We are looking for the following qualifications and traits:
- Must possess a post-secondary degree from a program that is a minimum of three years in duration, or a post-secondary diploma in health or social services from a program that is a minimum of two years in duration or be a grandfathered Administrator as required under the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021, ss 76 (1) and Ontario Regulation ss. 249/22 (3,4)
- Must have successfully completed or is enrolled in a program in long-term care home administration or management that is a minimum of 100 hours in duration of instruction time as required under the Fixing Long Term Care Act, 2021, ss 76 (1) and Ontario Regulation ss. 249/22 (3,4)
- Minimum of three (3) years managerial or supervisory experience in health or social services or in another managerial or supervisory capacity, if already successfully completed the course identified above
- Demonstrated strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
- Professional competencies related to life-long learning, public relations and health environmental awareness
- Prior experience in human resources and labour relations management preferred
- Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
- Must be computer literate
- Must possess valid Driver’s License and be willing to travel
- Two years in this role to reach competency
