ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Director of Intensive Services, the Manager of Day Treatment Classrooms is responsible for the daily operation of designated classrooms in the Day Treatment Program and is a member of the management team. The Manager of Day Treatment Classrooms is responsible for providing a safe, therapeutic environment for all children and youth attending the day treatment classrooms and the implementation of classroom treatment plans, including coordination with other classroom managers, the Managers of Clinical Services, Child and Family Therapists, other service providers and the families involved in the treatment program. The Manager of Day Treatment Classrooms is responsible for supporting, coaching and training of all front-line staff on a consistent basis, ensuring that client assessment and interventions are linked to comprehensive treatment plans and that all legislative and best practice requirements are met. The Manager is responsible for working closely with school board partners to run programs and planning for client needs as they transition from the program. Salary Range:$86,645 - $91,922

Location: Aurora, Responsible for schools located throughout Northern York Region, regular travel involved

Hours of Work:35 hours per week, on call responsibilities evenings and weekends on an occasional basis

A LOOK AT YOUR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees the daily operations of a set of day treatment classrooms, staff and clients, including the oversight of staff performance, quality of treatment programming, adequate resourcing, interdisciplinary teamwork, and collaboration with school boards regarding referrals and clients.
  • Provides clinical leadership by maintaining knowledge of best practices and models used for day treatment programs to effectively meet the needs of clients.
  • Provides direct supervision to assigned coordinator(s) to support daily program coordination and ensure quality therapeutic programming.
  • Oversees the treatment planning for clients and families who require management input/consultation for decision-making purposes.
  • Works closely with Coordinators and Managers of Clinical Services throughout the admission and discharge process to maximize desk occupancy and optimize client length of stay.
  • Ensures that service delivery in day treatment complies with legislative and accreditation standards, including the CYFSA and CCA accreditation standards.
  • Addresses all requests for records, support letters, and verification of services.
  • Responsible for implementing quality assurance and evaluation processes as well as monitoring the collection and recording of both clinical and service data and that all data is submitted on a timely basis as per organizational standards.
  • Hires, and manages Day Treatment Child and Youth Workers and Coordinators to ensure program coverage and effectiveness.
  • Provides supervision at least biweekly to assigned direct reports.
  • Manages all concerns relating to coverage (e.g. during vacations/ breaks), productivity, and workload expectations.
  • Provides leadership around positive staff engagement and morale by supporting the well-being of staff through supervision, agency staff retention strategies, professional development, and practices that support work-life balance.
  • Ensures that all direct reports provide flexible, inclusive service with a diverse population and strives to ensure cultural sensitivity.
  • Facilitates regular team meetings to discuss administrative, clinical and educational issues that affect the team or clients, and to assist staff in problem solving and best practices.
  • Provides timely review and editing of reports and ensures timelines are met by staff.
  • Maintains positive relationships with community partners including school boards and child welfare agencies, by attending client meetings and community tables as needed
  • Reviews all program referrals and maintains oversight of the waitlist for day treatment placement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • A diploma in a related field of social or human services and/or a demonstrated equivalent experience or training.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of staff supervisory experience is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of child and youth mental health legislation and regulations, including child welfare and education systems
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including editing skills with attention to detail.
  • A willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekend work and on-call support on a rotational schedule.
  • Effective prioritization of people management, crisis management and solution-based problem-solving abilities.
  • Competent in trauma-informed practice, child development, and child and youth care relational practice.
  • Ability to demonstrate sound decision-making in an intensive environment.
  • A willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekend work and on-call support on a rotational schedule.
  • Functional technological skills (e.g., Office 365, MS Office, SharePoint, software applications).

NICE TO HAVES:

  • Applicants with fluency in another language are encouraged to apply.
  • Fluency in American Sign Language.

ON-BOARDING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Vulnerable Police Record Check (within the last 180 days).
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a reliable motor vehicle.
  • Completion of a Driver’s Abstract.
  • Proof of automobile insurance.
