The Role Neo Financial is looking for a Senior AI Developer to join our team in the Calgary office. We are looking for a visionary developer who has taken the time to become a true expert in using AI to write code. The right candidate views AI as the primary engine of modern software engineering, manages their agents to deliver outsize results, and mentors other developers to learn their craft.

In this role, you will collaborate with teams of developers to build Neo’s financial products, leveraging agentic systems and LLMs to compress development cycles and solve complex architectural challenges. You’ll work with cutting-edge AI tools (Cursor, Claude, & more) to deliver real customer-facing products with full stack responsibilities. Our architecture includes React, React Native and a Microservices back-end with TypeScript, Node.js, and GraphQL.

What You’ll Be Doing

• AI-Augmented Development: Write and ship impactful code (React, TypeScript, Node, GraphQL, etc) while maximizing the utility of AI coding assistants to increase velocity and code quality.
• Building Agentic Systems: Design and implement internal AI agents using Claude and other LLMs to automate complex workflows, from automated testing to code migration.
• DevOps Leadership: Contribute to devops improvements that can enable the whole team, bringing AI to areas like Code Review, Requirements, Deployments, and QA.
• Mentorship & AI Advocacy: Lead by example by mentoring other developers on "Prompt Engineering for Engineers" and how to integrate AI into their daily SDLC.
• High-Stakes Code Reviews: Perform meaningful code reviews, specifically looking for ways to improve system logic and identifying where AI-generated code requires human architectural oversight.
• Robust Engineering: Advocate for and implement rigorous unit and integration testing (with AI) to ensure AI-driven outputs meet Neo's high standards for financial security and reliability.

Who We Are Looking For

• AI Power User: You have a deep understanding of how to use LLMs to accelerate development and have experience building applications that interact with AI APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Gemini. etc).
• Full-Stack Expertise: Mastery of back-end development (APIs, queues, security, scalable systems) and the ability to build complex business logic into full-stack web projects.
• Data & Infrastructure: Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure (AWS) and various data stores and systems. You understand how to structure data and infra to be "AI-ready" or work “At AI Speeds”
• Proactive Multi-tasker. You can juggle a few goals at once and balance AI improvement with also shipping value to customers.
• Systems Thinker: You have a strong grasp of programming principles and a seasoned ability to optimize performance and scale solutions in a distributed environment.
• Collaborative Leader: Experience working on large-scale projects that span multiple teams. You know how to give constructive feedback and take it in stride.
• Experience: Seasoned developers with 6 or more years of professional work experience - but AI ability matters more.
