Your Team:
Join Flair’s Maintenance team, where safety, reliability, and compliance are central to every operation. Reporting to the Manager, Maintenance Control, the Maintenance Control Supervisor is an experienced, licensed AME – M2 responsible for overseeing the Maintenance Control Centre (MCC) team and all line maintenance activities. This role ensures maintenance work is performed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with regulatory and company standards. The Maintenance Control Supervisor provides guidance to Maintenance Controllers, addresses aircraft maintenance concerns, and coordinates with internal departments to support aircraft scheduling and operational requirements.
This position is based on-site at our Calgary (YYC) office.
A Day in the Life:
The duties of the Maintenance Control Supervisor include:
- Oversight of on-shift MCC Controllers, with a focus on ensuring completion of MCC’s Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMP).
- Provide guidance and support to MCC Controllers during unique or uncommon operational situations.
- Monitor and assist with MCC operational tasks, including assuming responsibilities when necessary to maintain efficient workflow and productivity.
- Manage operational Aircraft on Ground (AOG) events and delegate tasks to MCC Controllers as required to ensure timely resolution.
- Act as the out-of-office point of contact for the MCC Manager when needed, maintaining continuity of leadership and decision-making.
- Ensuring the airworthiness of the company’s fleet is maintained, and communicated as the status changes.
- Serving as the central point of contact for operational aircrew, dispatch, and maintenance for technical and logistical assistance.
- Collaborating with line maintenance, Technical Services, Materials, and duty operations control to formulate and evaluate recovery plans during irregular operations.
- Initiating aircraft swaps when necessary to meet maintenance goals and making decisions regarding discrepancies/deferrals.
- Exercising authority and responsibility for supervising and coordinating all line scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
- Maintain constant surveillance of line station activity. Authorize the use of the Minimum Equipment List (MEL) and other deferrals.
- Produce a daily Fleet status report accessible to key stakeholders.
- Liaise with vendors for overnight maintenance regarding aircraft readiness. Ensure that work has been completed and the logbook has been signed. Verify that all deferred items are in accordance with the time limit authorized by MEL and ensure that all maintenance and operational restrictions are in compliance.
- Meticulously record technical delays and actively participate in the Weekly Technical Delay review, contributing recommendations for preventing similar future events
- Managing out-of-hours technical requests to Boeing. Confirming parts requirements for deferrals and monitoring their status.
- Support the accomplishment of planned maintenance in conjunction with the maintenance planning department.
- Coordinate all maintenance ferry flights in accordance with approved procedures
- Completing internal company forms, maintenance records, documents, work orders, and entries in the MRO IT tracking system.
- Generating accurate and comprehensive shift turnover reports
- Identifying safety concerns, issues, incidents, or hazards and reporting them through the company's Safety Management System (SMS) program.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
What You Bring to the Role:

- Education:
- High School or GED equivalent.
- Transport Canada (TC) AME license with M2 endorsement.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10 to 15 years of progressive aviation maintenance experience, including hands-on work as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME M2) with direct involvement in line maintenance operations, troubleshooting, and real-time technical decision-making.
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in a Maintenance Control or Operations Control environment, managing aircraft serviceability, coordinating maintenance recovery, and supporting flight operations.
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or lead experience overseeing Maintenance Controllers or AMEs in a 24/7 operational environment, including responsibility for scheduling, workload management, performance oversight, and technical mentoring.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively, fostering a safety-first culture and promoting collaboration between Maintenance Control, Line Maintenance, Technical Services, and Operations Control.
- Strong working knowledge of Boeing 737 NG and MAX aircraft systems, with the ability to guide others in troubleshooting, MEL application, and regulatory interpretation (endorsements considered an asset).
- In-depth understanding of Transport Canada Civil Aviation Regulations (CARs), the company’s Maintenance Control Manual (MCM), and approved maintenance programs.
- Proven experience analyzing fleet reliability and maintenance performance trends, tracking deferred defects, and contributing to technical delay and root-cause reviews.
- Proficiency in maintenance tracking systems (AMOS preferred) and ensuring accuracy across technical documentation and logbook entries.
- Strong capability to perform in a fast-paced, time-critical environment, applying sound technical judgment under pressure.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) for reporting and communication.

- Communication & Collaboration: Clear and professional communicator, capable of effectively liaising with pilots, Operations Control, Technical Services, and senior leadership. Able to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Conflict Resolution: Exhibits strong conflict resolution capabilities by proactively addressing operational and interpersonal challenges within the Maintenance Control Centre, ensuring timely and collaborative problem-solving while maintaining professionalism and team cohesion under pressure.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical data, maintenance records, and reliability trends to support continuous improvement.
- Regulatory & Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of Transport Canada Civil Aviation Regulations (CARs), company manuals (MCM, MPM), and approved maintenance programs.
- Operational Awareness: Ability to maintain a broad situational overview of the airline’s operational status and effectively prioritize competing maintenance and flight requirements.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy in reviewing technical documentation, deferrals, and maintenance entries, ensuring compliance and traceability.
- System Proficiency: Experienced with aircraft maintenance and tracking systems (AMOS preferred) and intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Adaptability & Resilience: Able to perform effectively in a dynamic environment with changing priorities, demonstrating professionalism and composure under pressure.
- Safety Commitment: Dedicated to upholding and promoting a strong safety culture through proactive engagement with the company’s Safety Management System (SMS).
- Work Schedule Flexibility: Ability to work irregular hours or shift work that may include overnights, evenings, weekends, and holidays, with a schedule that varies to support operational needs.
- Requirements:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC).
- Clear Canadian Criminal Record Check (CCRC) and satisfactory employment references.
- Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment alcohol and drug screening test.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without restriction.
