Purpose of Role:
The purpose of this role is to provide support in the identification and management of business risks (strategic, reputation, governance, operational,
financial and compliance) by primarily supervising the daily activities of testers ( including contractors) during the execution of audits and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) program.
Role Accountabilities:
- Participate in direct testing for simple to moderately complex* audits. Also, may assist in other aspects of the audit process such as planning or drafting sections of the audit report such as the findings and recommendations. All of which to be under the guidance of a manager or above.
- As defined in Hudbay’s Internal Audit standards and guidelines
- Support the execution of the SOX program (interim/walkthrough, roll forward and year-end) at select locations as assigned. This may include the following:
- assist in planning the SOX program including risk assessment and scoping of the processes and controls
- perform testing
- participate in walkthroughs, and lead them as required
- select and review testing samples and sizes
- review working papers, as required
- review updates to site controls and narratives in Workiva for the SOX program as made by control and process owners
- assist with preparing SOX status updates and reporting
- test remediation of controls by management
- support the manager in the administration of Workiva
- assist with drafting SOX deliverables
- provide training on the Workiva system to new and existing users

Assist in the preparation of slides for the quarterly Audit Committee meetings

Support other activities as assigned to meet the objectives and goals of the group.
Experience, Knowledge & Skills:
-
Minimum of 3 years professional experience, with exposure in heavy industry/natural resources sector (mining preferred) a plus
Prior experience in the execution of a Sarbanes-Oxley (Sox) program. -
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Experience balancing a number of competing priorities and deadlines.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PPT

Strong analytical skills
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a professional area (i.e. Accounting, Engineering or Mining-related technical degree).

CPA designation is required. CIA, CFE or other relevant credentials an advantage.
Travel:

5% to 10% travel
