About the role
The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Métis, also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are a distinct Indigenous Nation and People, and Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.
The MMF seeks to fill one full-time Michif and French Language Program Coordinator position within our Languages Unit located at 200 Main Street in Winnipeg, MB. The Michif and French Language Program Coordinator will be responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and overseeing the Language Unit’s programs to ensure that established goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with prescribed priorities, budgetary guidelines, and work plan activities.
Job Duties/Competencies:
- Work closely with Language Keepers to develop, plan, and facilitate all programs;
- Prepare program and funding proposals, while implementing and monitoring programs, services, and contracts;
- Develop programs and monitor contractual financial obligations in accordance with signed contracts/contribution agreements;
- Assist in program evaluation and research analysis as assigned while planning and coordinating departmental programs and activities;
- Implement and monitor a consistent procedure for office administration and records management;
- Prepare program and research reports, and assist the Director to fulfill reporting requirements to funders;
- Develop cooperative working relationships with local, provincial, and federal organizations and other agencies.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or relevant field; equivalent experience and training may be considered;
- Experience as a Program Coordinator or relevant position;
- Knowledge of program management and development procedures;
- Experience in preparing funding proposals for social service projects and programs;
- Knowledge of budgeting, bookkeeping, and reporting;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite;
- Experience with virtual technology, including: creating social media communications and facilitating online and hybrid meetings;
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills;
- Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and Indigenous community is an asset;
- Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, and MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
- Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
