Reporting to the Animal Welfare Manager, the Animal Welfare Supervisor, Operations and Analytics will be responsible for responsible for the execution of live transportation investigations to Maple Lodge Farms - Brampton, and data report development and process digitization for Animal Welfare, analytics, MLHC.

What You Will Be Doing
- Operations
- Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of Animal Welfare (AW) and Foreign Animal Disease (FAD) programs designed to ensure safety and wellbeing of all animals in our care.
- Participate in continuous improvement processes related to AW and FAD programs
- Assess and react to immediate animal welfare concerns and follow up to implement preventative measures.
- Participate and assist in 3rd Party Animal Welfare and FAD Simulations, as required.
- Liaison with CFIA Veterinary in Charge and Supervisors in the absence of Animal Welfare Manager.
- Analytics
- Facilitate and execute AW projects with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with programs and to drive improvement of animal welfare. Present work to upper management as requeste.
- Supervise data collection for reports and conduct relevant projects to improve animal welfare processes and programs.
- Automate and digitize AW internal processes at Maple Lodge Farms - Brampton and assist MLHC Animal Welfare teams, as required. Processes may include but are not limited to document control and digitization, audit forms, and corrective actions.
- Analyze animal welfare-related data and information and share with Animal Welfare Departments across MLHC.
- Develop presentations, reports and interactive dashboards that communicate findings to MLHC mid- and upper-level management and external stakeholders, as required.
- Responsible for the execution of live transportation investigations by identifying areas of deviation and root causes. Review paperwork and interview relevant departments to discuss and confirm findings. Identify and issue corrective actions and complete final reports to be presented to mid and upper management.
- Keep abreast with existing and new legislation
- Attend industry conferences and meetings as needed and provide relevant updates to team.
- Keep abreast with national and international AW and FAD requirements by studying existing and new related legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on required actions.
- People Supervision:
- Organize and supervise the activities and work of a team of subordinates (Animal Welfare
- Monitors and Animal Welfare Technicians) to ensure that all assigned work activity is carried out in an efficient and procedurally compliant manner.
- Provide formal and informal feedback to subordinates to ensure their continuous development and overall contribution to the achievement of Maple Lodge Farms business strategy.
- On-site and document verification of subordinates to ensure compliance and consistency among team. Assigns corrective actions and performs retraining of work activities, as necessary.
- Policies, Processes & Procedures
- Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
- Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of specific processes, policies and procedures.
- Promote and comply with all Maple Lodge Farms Health & Safety, Quality Assurance, and Environmental Management policies, procedures and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
- Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices laid out by the company.
- Actively participate in all internal and external audits.
- Investigate, find root cause, determine corrective action and/or preventative measures and follow up on any deviations noted while performing assigned tasks.
What You Will Bring Necessary Knowledge and Experience
- Minimum three years of experience in the animal science field required
- Experience in utilizing Microsoft Power Platform – Power Apps, Power BI, Power Automate required
- Advanced Computer Skills (e.g., Microsoft D365, Excel) required
- Analytical with problem-identification and problem-solving capabilities
- Team-player with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work / excel in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential; Education and Certification Requirements
- PAACO certification in poultry welfare required.
- Post-Secondary diploma in a related field required; post-graduate degree in Animal Science or related field preferred. Competencies
