Annual salary: $1,792.24 - $2,257.45 biweekly

The location for this position is: Edmonds Office, Burnaby.

  • BC Hydro’s Supply Chain function is integral to keeping the business running and the lights on. BC Hydro is transforming

its Supply Chain to better meet the requirements for quality, safety and reliability in what we buy for the best total cost and

to ensure mutually beneficial supplier relationships.

  • We are looking for team-oriented 4th year or MBA Co-op students who demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal,

analytical, and problem-solving skills. The successful candidates will be working on various challenging and meaningful

projects with a number of teams within Supply Chain.

  • Working with project teams may include: data gathering and analysis of various suppliers and categories of external

expenditures to support effective decision making, developing presentation materials, and documentation in support of

business improvement projects and/or processes. The student will be exposed to a variety of collaborative and independent

projects, which require prioritization skills and attention to detail. Project work will be assigned based on the needs of the

department and interests/strengths of the student.

  • The student will learn about Supply Chain and business improvement practices within the utility industry and be given the

opportunity to develop his/her communication skills, software skills, analytical skills, and professional judgment.

  • The student will be a part of a collaborative team of professionals who will support his/her learning, critical thinking, and

communication skills, and provide him/her with an ongoing evaluation process throughout the term. The student will have

access to various training courses (both in-person and online) and the opportunity to observe and contribute to strategic

planning through attending meetings and workshops.

  • The student may have the opportunity to go into the field to see various aspects of supply chain operations at work.

What you bring

  • To qualify for a Co-op opportunity, students must be enrolled in academic studies at a post-secondary institution in

Canada and must be returning to school after completion of their work term with BC Hydro.

  • 4th year Commerce/Economics Undergraduate Degree or MBA students with previous work experience are preferred.

  • Strong analytical skills, combined with good judgement, and ability to learn quickly.

  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, PowerBI).

  • Effective interpersonal and communication (both written and oral) skills and the ability to work efficiently, independently,

and in a team environment.

  • High attention to detail, time management skills, and ability to take initiative in the workplace are an asset.

What we offer

  • As a condition of employment at BC Hydro, a background check clearance will be required.

  • All positions will be hired first as a four month work term. For some positions, there is opportunity to extend, to eight

months.

  • Students are expected to work at the job location for their co-op role and it is the student’s responsibility to relocate

themselves if necessary.

Flexible work model role definitions:

Our four role types identify the degree of flexibility an employee could have to work from home based on the type of work

they do. The flexibility for an individual job is up to the manager for each position and the operational requirements.

Employees also have the right to work full-time from the office if they prefer. All of our roles require at least some in-person

time.

Role type Criteria

Field – No work from home option.

Resident – Works primarily (4+ days per week) in the office.

Hybrid – May be able to work from home up to 3 days per week.

Remote – Works from home 4+ days per week.
