Agilus is recruiting for a Senior Software / AI Developer in the energy sector in Calgary, Alberta. We are seeking a Contract Senior Software & AI Developer to join our team, reporting to the Senior Manager, AI Development and D&P Data Solutions. In this role, you will design and deliver AI-driven and agentic software products that blend emerging AI capabilities with established software engineering practices. Responsibilities

• Design and develop full-stack applications integrating generative and analytical AI
• Combine AI agents with conventional components like CRUD systems, data pipelines, and ML tools
• Integrate and fine-tune foundation models for domain-specific needs
• Enhance data, infrastructure, and tools for AI readiness
• Leverage cloud services, AI platforms, databases, and full-stack frameworks
• Collaborate with business partners to align technical solutions with business goals
• Partner with internal and external teams to co-develop AI and data-driven solutions
• Share knowledge, mentor teammates, and lead AI maturity initiatives

Requirements

• Proficient in Python, Ruby, SQL, JavaScript
• Deep understanding of software engineering fundamentals and components
• Hands-on experience with leading AI frameworks and libraries
• Practical experience in building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems
• Experience in full-stack application development using modern frameworks
• Skilled in designing and optimizing a wide range of data stores
• Experience deploying generative AI foundation models using cloud services
• Experience with AI-enhanced developer tools for rapid prototyping and code generation

Additional Competencies

• Familiarity with emerging AI trends and protocols
• Understanding of core patterns within autonomous agent frameworks
• Exposure to building RESTful APIs using modern frameworks
• Proven understanding of orchestration tools for managing data pipelines
• Familiarity with cloud environments including Azure or AWS
