NextStar Energy (NSE) is an innovative joint venture company between LG and Stellantis. It will be Canada's first large-scale lithium-ion battery production plant when it begins production at the Twin Oaks site in Windsor, Ontario. The manufacturing facility will have an annual targeted production capacity in excess of 49 gigawatt hours and will create an estimated 2,500 new jobs in Windsor and the surrounding areas.

We are seeking skilled and dependable Cell Equipment Technicians to join our Maintenance team. The successful candidates will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and restoring production equipment across multiple process areas, including Formation, Packaging, Laminating, and Stacking. This role is critical to minimizing downtime, ensuring equipment reliability, and supporting safe and efficient operations in a high-demand manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Perform corrective maintenance and repairs on cell production equipment across multiple process areas.
- Record and track maintenance activities, parts usage, and repair history in the Equipment Management System (EMS/CMMS).
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring equipment failures.
- Collaborate with engineers, production teams, process teams and spare parts staff to minimize downtime and improve reliability.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Assist with spare parts usage and feedback to improve inventory accuracy.
- Provide technical guidance and support to operators and fellow technicians as needed.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, recommending equipment modifications and process enhancements.
- Engage in training to strengthen technical skills and support cross-functional capabilities.
- Additional duties or tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience in equipment repair, troubleshooting, or breakdown maintenance.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic drawings.
- Computer literacy (MS Office; EMS/CMMS for reporting and data entry).
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Preferred Requirements:

Strong preference given to candidates holding a Technical Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Maintenance.

3–5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.

Strong root cause analysis and structured problem-solving capability.

Experience with Siemens PLCs.

Welding, machining, or fabrication skills an asset.

Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and 5S standards.
