As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for the quality of work product in the Bridges and Structures Asset Management Planning division, including the coordination and application of asset management practice within Mobility in compliance with the City's Asset Management Policy. Primary duties include:

  • Coordinate asset related activities (for bridges, structures and other asset classes) across Asset Management Planning, Bridges & Geotechnical, and Operations. This includes:
    • Conducting engineering reviews of inspection, repairs, and other reports.
    • Assisting with prioritization of maintenance and construction activities.
    • Overseeing operation and maintenance agreements.
    • Overseeing event approvals.
    • Circulating agreements for approvals.
    • Provide On-Call emergency coverage as part of a rotation.
  • Assist with the development of risk-based asset management plans including the prioritization of activities and treatments for bridges and other asset classes.
  • Provide inspections services for bridges and other assets.
  • Maintain the bridge management system including acting as the main point for contact for the system vendor, keying and uploading data, performing queries and evaluations, tracking work status, and ensuring that the data is accurate and current.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related structural engineering field and at least 4 years of relevant professional engineering experience obtained after receiving your P. Eng. designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status OR licensure and practicing status by the first day of work.   • Experience should include demonstrated knowledge of asset management business processes, encompassing the development of strategies, business cases, economics and business process mapping.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalency) with no more than 6 demerits OR a Class 5 Graduated Driver's License (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits.
  • The ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with knowledge of municipal asset management practices, an awareness of international asset management practices, as well as experience with asset management software.
  • The successful candidate must be skilled in clear communication on technical, operational, and business issues to multiple audiences; thrive when working independently; have a strong customer service orientation; and actively engage in collaboration with both internal and external parties.

Workstyle

  • This position may be eligible to work from home as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. Such arrangements are based on the operational requirements of the position and employee suitability and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
