CADD 3 - FTT

Number of positions: 1 Job Location: Edmonds 07

Employment type: Temporary Region: Lower Mainland

Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Hybrid

Annual salary: $ 70,800.00 - 76,300.00

What you'll do

  • Design, creates and revises a variety of engineering/design computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) models and

drawings associated for an assigned engineering/design discipline (including but not limited to: Civil/Structural, Electrical,

Mechanical, Protection & Control (P&C), Telecom or Municipal) in Generation, Transmission or Distribution throughout the

province. Reviews project requirements, discusses and clarifies requirements with the Engineer/Designer. Selects and

prepares detailed engineering/design drawings and related documentation. Performs a variety of basic design and technical

calculations.

  • Determines when Engineering CADD standards and specifications can be altered to meet non-standard situations and

that their application is appropriate and applies to the ongoing drafting work.

  • Performs a variety of related functions such as: scanning of site-specific locations; calculating quantities of materials and

components from drawings; writing material lists; visiting work sites to gather information, observe site conditions and/or

deciding on what measurements are pertinent; and choosing the appropriate technology to apply to the required

engineering/design tasks.

  • Conducts quality checks on digital data to meet project digital delivery requirements and ensure compliance to digital

Engineering CADD standards.

  • Performs CADD checks of drawings completed by contractors/external service providers and lower-level CAD team

members to ensure adherence to Engineering CADD standards, accuracy of information and details, including translations

of drawings produced by other CADD applications.

  • May design and create physical and logical 2D/3D parametric models for design verification, design input, detailed

drawings with associated projects.

  • Provides technical direction and guidance to lower-level CAD team members.

  • May evaluate new and existing workflows to ensure they meet operational requirements such as drawing issuance, Vault

integration, digital sign and seal.

  • May participate in the testing of new advanced CADD applications. Provides feedback to assist in program development

and customization.

  • Performs all the duties of the lower-level CAD jobs.

  • Performs duties of a minor nature related to the above duties that do not affect the rating of the job.

What you bring

  • Two (2) year certificate/diploma in computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) from an accredited post-secondary

technical institution.

  • Six (6) years of experience in a computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) role in a relevant discipline (such as Civil/

Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, P&C, Telecom or Municipal). Preference given to the discipline directly relating to the

position.

OR

  • Equivalent combination of academic training with CADD as part of the educational and/or development program and

related CADD experience.

  • Electrical utility or in a similar industry experience would be an asset.

  • Completion of advanced technical training in advanced areas such as, modeling, simulation, visualization, analysis,

design, prototyping and testing.

  • Requires successful completion of applicable introductory courses on the BC Hydro Electrical System; or must be

completed within one (1) year of starting in the job.

  • Must hold a valid class five (5) driver's licence.

  • This is full-time temporary position for approximately 5 years.

  • Intermediate working knowledge and skills in Inventor with a general knowledge in the use of another Parametric

Modelling Software's (i.e. Revit, Advanced Steel, Autodesk Civil 3D ).

  • Intermediate working knowledge and skills in Autodesk AutoCAD.

  • Intermediate knowledge of the BCH Engineering CADD standards.

  • Good knowledge of existing BCH facilities, structures, and underground electrical design.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and management skills and the ability to work in an multi discipline environment.

  • Testing will be used as part of the selection process.
