SUMMARY

This position spans multiple data disciplines at BCFSA. As a technical subject matter expert, it is responsible for designing, managing, and optimizing data pipelines; collaboratively overseeing data infrastructure; and ensuring that data solutions align with organizational goals.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Coaching, training, and advising employees, management and leadership on various data topics and acting as a technical subject matter expert.

  • Making the appropriate data available to various data consumers (including data and business analysts, citizen report developers, and application developers).

  • Building, managing, and operationalizing data pipelines in support of key data and analytics use cases.

  • Curating datasets and data pipelines created by nontechnical users.

  • Operationalizing data delivery for production-level deployments.

  • Supporting the key task of deploying data and analytic outputs into existing business processes and applications.

  • Ensuring compliance with data governance and data security requirements.

  • As the primary data engineering resource, assists the business and data analysts with integrating reporting, and visualization analytics into business processes and interpreting the results.

  • Developing, managing, and supporting ETL processes with a keen eye on the performance and reliability of data.

  • Providing data provisioning guidance and assistance for data visualization and report generation, specifically with visual data modeling tools such as Power BI.

  • Lead or support data migration efforts from legacy applications and other data sources including SharePoint and SQL Server databases, in close collaboration with the Data Architect and application development team.

  • Contributes to the team’s development of internal work practices (e.g., policies, procedures, and tools).

  • Provides orientation and training to internal and/or external stakeholders within area of responsibility.

  • Contributes to, participates in, and supports organizational business transformation initiatives.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • 4 years of working experience with Azure Cloud services and analytics platforms, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Azure Functions, Azure Key Vault, Synapse, GIT-based version control, SQL Server, and CI/CD.

  • 4 years of working experience in SQL, NoSQL, Spark, and Python.

  • 4 years of working experience in data management, storage, transformation, data orchestration, data warehousing, and optimization.

  • 2 years of working experience with BI reporting tools e.g., Power BI, Power Query, DAX, or equivalent.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills required to understand the requirements of both business and technology stakeholders to ensure data solutions align with organizational goals.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, enabling clear and effective articulation of data-related solutions and challenges.

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices in data analytics environments.

  • Familiarity with governance models and frameworks is an asset.

  • Familiarity with machine learning and advanced analytics and machine learning concepts is an asset.

  • Any Azure Data certification is an asset.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree with a Major or Minor in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Management or related fields in data science, data management, mathematics, and data analytics. Master’s degree in the same fields is an asset.
