Barkerville Gold Mines Ltd. ("BGM"), a wholly owned subsidiary of Osisko Development Corp. ("ODV"), is seeking a highly motivated individual to be part of its Cariboo Gold Project as an Exploration Supervisor in Wells, BC. This is an exciting opportunity to join our Company, which is committed to building and operating a modern, safe, socially, and environmentally sustainable mining operation that will support generations to come. One of our core values is building and maintaining relationships that are based on reciprocity to ensure mutual benefits for all stakeholders and a legacy for future generations.This position will be primarily located in Wells, BC and will follow fourteen [14] days on, and fourteen [14] days off work rotation.Reporting directly to the Manager, Exploration the Exploration Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing all logistical aspects of the Company’s extensive exploration programs. The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary exploration teams, contractors, and consultants to deliver on, and successfully execute the Company’s Exploration growth strategy.Main Responsibilities· The Exploration Supervisor is responsible for coordinating, planning, and supervising the execution of exploration programs.· Maintaining departmental budget by tracking overages, submitting requestions, tracking spending, projecting costs for future projects. Inspecting, approving, or denying invoices, and contractor negotiations.· Conducting mineral exploration permit maintenance through submitting annual MYAB and ASEA paperwork, applying for new NoW permits, applying for permit amendments, tracking existing permits in a database. Making sure work is planned and conducted within permit conditions.· Creating and maintaining exploration department schedule by planning coverage for upcoming projects, building up staff levels through hiring or use of external staffing provider contractors, tracking variances.· Fine tuning drill plans as projects progress based on results in core logs and assays. Drafting, reviewing, approving internal and external memos, reports, and technical documents. Delegation of technical geologic projects such as drill hole planning, geochemical analysis, or geologic mapping. Vetting and approving technical work.· Creation and filling project work plans to track project objectives, requirements, and learnings. Reporting on project results in the form of internal PowerPoints, internal project report documents, daily and weekly drilling reports. Progress tracking and KPI reporting, news release drafting, and assessment reporting.· Human resources tasks dealing with employee maintenance such as disciplinary discussions, annual performance reviews, compensation or job title discussions, promotions, hiring, and lay offs.· Representing the company and the department at company update meetings, public event and conferences, and in the field at work project sites. Collaborating with other departments and contractors as needed.Skills and Abilities Required· Strong background in fieldwork and data collection methods.· Knowledge of mining and mineral exploration permitting regulations and compliance.· Experience in mining, oil and gas, or environmental projects.· Proven project management experience. Excellent communication and presentation skills.· Proficiency in geological software and data analysis tools.· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational and time management skills.· Skills in effectively communicating geological information. Attention to detail and accuracy in data reporting.· Proven track record of safety leadership. Work safely and contribute to safe working environment.· Capability to travel to project sites as required.· Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary, cross-cultural team.· Innovation and proven ability to work well with others with demonstrated problem-solving skills.Qualifications· Bachelor's degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or related field.· Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant work experience.· Professional Geologist or Geoscientist (P.Geo) certification· Expertise in GIS and geological modeling software. About Osisko Development
Barkerville Gold Mines Ltd. (BGM) is proposing to construct and operate the Cariboo Gold Project, an underground gold mine and associated infrastructure, in the historic Cariboo Mining District east and southeast of the City of Quesnel. BGM is a Canadian company owned by Osisko Gold Royalties Ltd. The company is based in Wells, BC and headquartered in Toronto, Ontario.
The Cariboo Gold Project includes:
- an underground mine and associated facilities in and near Wells
- waste rock storage at Bonanza Ledge mine
- a new transmission line from Barlow Substation to the mine site
- use of existing roads to the mine site, Bonanza Ledge mine and QR Mill
- processing facilities and tailing storage at QR Mill
Once operational, the mine will have a life of 12 to 15 years and will employ an estimated 350 employees plus 50 contractors and consultants. The Project construction workforce will peak at approximately 245 workers in Wells.
