Job Overview

Position Schedule: Full-Time

The Financial Planning Advising Specialist II serves as a technical subject matter expert in the Financial Planning area. This role requires a broad and deep understanding of the firm's financial planning, advice and guidance, as well as the branch and client experience. The specialist helps to create and shape financial planning standards, processes, and tools while ensuring the integrity of A&G is upheld across the firm and embedded within our suite of financial planning tools. Success in this position also requires providing informal leadership through firmwide initiatives and contributing to formal thought leadership. Key responsibilities include:

  • Partner with internal A&G units (Financial Planning, Investment Research and Investment Management) to help create and update A&G at Edward Jones. Understand and translate A&G into our planning tools and resources that support delivery of financial planning and A&G.

  • Help design, develop, execute tools strategy to ensure branch teams have quality tools and support needed to help clients achieve their financial goals.

  • Own and manage tools/resources that align with firm advice and guidance and financial planning delivery strategy.

  • Responsible for vendor relationships of moderate to significant size, complexity, number or impact in order to:

    • Manage and maintain their portfolio of tools/platforms including influencing recommendations to add/remove/change tools as needed
    • Help shape and execute business plans that align with firm strategic direction
    • Collaborate on the design and development of integrated platforms, systems, tools and processes that create a better client and branch team experience
    • Resolve moderately complex/broad vendor issues as escalated
    • Regularly interface with vendor and internal peer contacts (e.g. relationship managers, product analysts, etc.)
  • Evaluate the firms A&G content to ensure consistency and alignment with oversight. Understand the Edward Jones business model, investment philosophy and values.

  • Coordinate the process of updating and applying our A&G (e.g. CMAs, planning assumptions, white papers, strategy reports, diagnostics, portfolio construction, etc.) through all firm delivery channels for intermediate level projects. Test the impact of the updates, communicate the updates to branch teams as needed.

  • Serve as a SME for key stakeholders (Learning, Service, Field Management, Practice Management) and branch teams to ensure the integrity of financial planning and A&G is upheld through application and messaging.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders as a financial planning and A&G SME throughout the life cycle of projects, including planning, design and implementation for intermediate level projects. Work in partnership with other firm services to problem solve issues that arise regarding application of financial planning and firm A%G.

  • Monitor industry trends, competitors and regulatory changes. Assess how those trends impact our business, messaging and the application of our A&G. Communicate changes in trends to governance committees as needed. Achieve results with and through others, including training others within the A&G business.

The salary range for this role is based on national data and actual pay is based on skills, experience, education, and other relevant factors for a potential new associate.

Hiring Maximum: $142800

Skills/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • 3-5 year industry experience

  • CFP (Certified Financial Planner) required within 1 year

  • Additional designations CEPA, FEA, EPC, MFA-P considered an asset

  • Knowledge of Advice and Guidance, investment products, portfolio construction or other financial planning concepts

  • Working knowledge of Conquest, Portfolio, Proposal Tool and/or other related tools

Current home-based associates: While this role is posted as hybrid, if selected and accepted, you may retain your home-based status. Edward Jones intends in good faith to continue offering the role as home-based, though future business or regulatory needs may require on-site work.
