As Director of Project Development
, you will lead the design, construction and project management for our restaurants and brands. Working directly alongside the owner of the company, executing the creative vision will be your primary deliverable. You will work closely with our Design Team, consultants, franchise partners and builders to deliver world-class spaces that reflect our brand identity, enhance guest experience and set new standards in hospitality. We believe that quality is the main ingredient in any great hospitality experience.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Lead and manage the Design & Construction team, recruiting, coaching and developing team members.
- Oversee delivery of design specifications, drawings and construction support.
- Source and manage professional consultants, including architects, engineers, specialists.
- Ensure best-in-class development practices, systems and templates that align with industry standards.
- Direct exterior and interior concept development, ensuring consistency with brand identity.
- Review and approve drawing packages, vendor and supplier approvals, and procurement agreements.
- Manage departmental budgets, project budgets and development standards while driving cost-effective strategies.
- Oversee project timelines, contractor performance and construction quality through to handover.
- Partner with real estate, landlords, city officials, and franchisees to facilitate smooth developmental processes.
- Conduct site visits, manage troubleshooting and oversee final inspection and handover readiness.
- Continuously improve efficiency, cost, quality and timelines for all new restaurant builds.
- Stay attuned to industry trends, innovations and best practices, bringing forward ideas to enhance concepts or operations.
WHAT YOU BRING:
- Post-secondary education in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
- Proven leadership experience in design and construction within the restaurant, retail or hospitality industries.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously across different geographies.
- Deep knowledge of construction practices, design standards and procurement processes.
- Effective collaboration skills with the ability to build positive relationships with franchise partners, consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders.
- A solution-focused mindset, with a track record of improving efficiencies, cost and quality outcomes.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to deliver high-quality, ‘zero defect’ build outs.
- Demonstrated communication and presentation skills, with the ability to represent the company to external stakeholders and partners.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU:
- The total compensation for this position is $170,000 to $225,000 CAD annually, with the final agreed upon salary based on individual skills, experience and qualifications.
