About the role
Bunzl is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic sales professional with previous experience within the Cleaning & Hygiene market. This position reports to the Director of National Accounts but the individual must thrive in a team environment.
The National Accounts Executive is responsible for developing and maintaining buying groups, increasing business among existing clients and promoting the organization to new clients in order to meet strategic business objectives. The successful candidate will also handle day-to-day maintenance of national account and/or buying group issues and business. This position will be 70% focused on mining existing business and 30% on gaining new customers.
The needs of our customers are also evolving with regards to the manner in which they procure product and services. Bunzl Cleaning & Hygiene thrives through digital execution, elevated levels of service and a very efficient supply chain and customer experience model. The ideal candidate will be successful by implementing and executing against the jobs required for our customers.
Responsibilities:
- Consult first and sell second. Understand our customers and their customers’ needs and bring new and innovative solutions to help them grow their business.
- Drive revenues and market share by targeting strategic key accounts and pursuing a strategic plan. Execute account plans, internally and externally, developing specific business objectives, action plans, milestones, and timelines.
- Partners with local sales, operations, marketing, finance, purchasing, technical service, HR and management to develop and deliver compelling customer presentations, and/or unique offerings. The candidate must love working within a team.
- Work closely with local sales professional and sales manager as they will be active with the potential customer when it is getting near to closing. After closing the day-to-day management of the account will be the responsibility of the local sales professional and manager and the BDE will continue to hunt for new business.
- Provide direction, feedback, and collaborating support to National Account team in the development and execution of program offerings unique to key accounts. Develop comprehensive account plans that help achieve beneficial results for both Bunzl and the customer.
- Accountable for flawless execution of account plans internally and externally, developing specific business objectives, action plans, milestones, and a timeline to guide the execution of the plan.
- Provide quick responses and solutions to all inquiries and problems.
- Develop and train our customers on the effective use of Digital technology and innovation.
- Ongoing oversight and key account management responsibility for key account performance, problem-resolution, broadening/deepening planning at highest levels of excellence, working collaboratively with Bunzl resources to ensure premium customer experience.
- Special projects and participation as required.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Cleaning & Hygiene Sales or Marketing with experience in account development with 3 of those years in sales with national/strategic accounts.
- Proven account development, onboarding, and account management skills including strategic planning and execution, creativity, communication, and administration.
- Proficient at generating specific customer-based opportunities through regional and national analysis.
- Excellent Microsoft Suite, CRM experience preferred. Willingness to learn and manipulate customer specific software to provide insight into the business and identify gaps and areas for improvement.
- Strategic thinker with a demonstrated ability to prospect and develop an integrated strategy in both product and program.
- Strong presentation, written, and oral communication skills required for interaction with internal and external clients.
- Strong financial acumen and negotiating skills.
- Conceptual and strategic thinker.

- Demonstrated excellence in customer relations at all levels within complex organization.
