About the role

Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX:

As a Lead Application Engineer, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the development and maintenance of personalized experiences that drive customer retention and loyalty. This includes creating both transactional and non-transactional emails, and delivering automated campaigns tailored to individual guest profiles.

You will take on a leadership role, coaching and mentoring a group of developers as they work on the customer-facing technology stack. You will also be responsible for contributing to the development of the Salesforce Marketing Cloud Platform and collaborating with your team to ensure that projects are completed efficiently and to a high standard. You will also play a key role in shaping the technology strategy for Arc’teryx's future guest service initiatives, contributing your insights and expertise to help steer our business toward its strategic goals. Overall, your technical expertise and leadership will be instrumental in advancing the success of our Salesforce-driven digital properties and solutions.

This role is based out of ARC’TERYX headquarters in North Vancouver, BC. We are open to a hybrid or remote work. Remote candidates must be committed to Pacific time zone hours. Please note that candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.

Meet Your Future Team:

The CRM Journeys and Omnichannel teams design and deliver seamless non-transactional/transactional email journeys for all omnichannel purchases and personalized guest journeys informed by a comprehensive view of the guest profile thereby aiming to simplify guest engagement with the brand and enhance the overall guest experience. Collaborating within cross-functional Agile squads, the team develops and launches features that enhance the effectiveness and impact of our email campaigns.

If you were the Lead Application Engineer now, here are some of the core activities you would be doing:

    • Providing direction and coaching to a team of 2–5 application engineers throughout all phases of the product development life cycle
    • Supporting your team with performance management, training, career growth and development
    • Advocate best practices of Agile development to deliver high quality software
    • Being accountable for the development of functional specifications and designs for future focused complex applications or modifying/maintaining complex existing applications
    • Consistently review the designs and code of team members, often in collaboration with your peers and Enterprise Architects
    • Helping design, code, debug and test unit test solutions as required
    • Remaining committed to a service-oriented design and analysis
    • Working to support, maintain and document new and existing solutions
    • Continuing to identify and evaluate new technologies for implementation
    • Collaborating and contributing to the continuous improvement of DevOps capabilities
    • Working with product managers on project resourcing by ensuring developers are available at the right time, with the right skill set
    • Checking in with product managers and technical leaders to ensure team performance and direction is on track to achieve project goals to scope, time and budget
    • Developing team members through coaching, mentoring, goal setting and ongoing assessment

    • Implementing best in class developer experiences through team building events, knowledge sharing sessions, and other initiatives

Are you our next Lead Application Engineer?

    • You have 2+ years experience leading a team of developers
    • You have 5+ years of experience in developing solutions on Marketing Cloud within Agile environments, demonstrating technical leadership and deep platform expertise
    • You have a deep understanding of marketing automation technologies and the Marketing Cloud ecosystem including integrations via REST, SOAP APIs, and WSProxy
    • You are highly proficient in developing complex features using AMPscript, SSJS, SQL, HTML, and CSS, with a strong adherence to coding standards and best practices
    • You bring deep experience in analyzing key campaign performance metrics - including conversion, unsubscribe, and bounce rates - and proactively manage IP reputation and email deliverability to ensure optimal engagement
    • You have a strong command of API integrations and have successfully led the integration of Salesforce Marketing Cloud with external systems and data sources to support scalable data-driven campaigns
    • You have an expert-level understanding of Salesforce Marketing Cloud and extensive hands-on experience testing and optimizing emails using industry-standard tools such as Litmus and Email on Acid
    • You have a thorough understanding of data privacy regulations and have led the development and implementation of GDPR and CCPA compliance processes within Salesforce Marketing Cloud environments
    • You are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues and developing solutions
    • You remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity
    • You can balance autonomy and collaboration
    • You inspire breakthrough thinking and continuous improvement
    • You seek the best (but sometimes not the easiest) solutions, with an unwavering commitment to do what is right

$94,000 - $128,000 a year

A reasonable estimate of the pay range is CAD$94,000 - CAD$128,000 at the time of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training. The upper end of the range is typically reserved for candidates with demonstrated expertise that is above job requirements or who bring exceptional directly transferable experience.
