THE POSITION
Keyera is currently seeking an Operations Engineer for our Liquids Infrastructure business unit. The successful candidate can be based out of Keyera's Liquids Infrastructure Regional Office in Sherwood Park or Keyera's Calgary Office. The successful candidate will be required to be onsite at the South Cheecham Sulfur Handling Facility located one hour south of Fort McMurray on a rotational basis. The selected individual can also work at the South Cheecham facility on a non-rotational basis if located in Fort McMurray or the nearby surrounding area. This position will also support Rail & Truck Terminals in the Edmonton area.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide technical and troubleshooting support to Maintenance, Operations, Construction, and Inspection.
- Actively participate in the management of change (MOC) process in conjunction with facility stakeholders.
- Collaborate with vendors, engineering firms, and subject matter experts to solve problems and resolve design issues.
- Utilize engineering skills to design Issue for Construction packages including: addressing HSE and reliability concerns, optimization/pay-out justification, project scheduling, cost control, tender/bid packages, and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare and authenticate technical drawings and documentation.
- Participate in plant and field planning, process hazard analysis, scheduling and budgeting processes.
- Provide project management for capital and OPEX projects from conception to completion.
- Proactive monitoring of process equipment for optimization and planned maintenance.
- Supporting growth development projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
- University Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or a diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
- Professional Engineering Designation (P.Eng) or PL(Eng) would be considered a strong asset.
- 5+ years experience in a similar role within a facility environment.
- Knowledge of Sulfur Handling, Midstream and Downstream facilities, Rail/Truck and Tank Terminals, steam systems, and mechanical equipment is preferred for this role.
- Experience with material handling.
- A strong background in facility and equipment reliability along with a mechanical aptitude.
- Creativity in developing and evaluating alternate solutions to realize business opportunities within Keyera.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organization and analytical skills.
- Is a self-starter who is able to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Has a demonstrated ability to perform successfully in a multi-disciplined work team environment.
- Familiarity with current acts and regulations (ASME B31.3 and Section VIII, CSA Z662, ABSA, etc.) is a nice to have.
