Job Description

CEDA is looking for an experienced and detail-driven Project Controls Specialist to join our team, based out of our Fort McKay Industrial Park location. As part of one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies, you’ll play a critical role in supporting the successful execution of projects by delivering accurate Cost forecasting, scheduling, cost control, and project progress reporting.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of preliminary estimates, budgets, schedule, scope change, and resource requirements with operations input.
  • Track project performance, from bid, through execution and final billing and close out.
  • Responsible for month end close including PO reviews, cost accruals, fixed-price project revenue recognition and accrual in compliance with accounting standards, budget reporting and monthly forecast requirements.
  • Work directly with operational teams and provide support in project control related areas including cost, construction progress and schedule compliance.
  • Support the team in continuous improvement initiatives and tracking.
  • Coordinates with functional groups such as Finance, Engineering, Business Services, QC, and HSE to ensure project success.
  • Provide clear communication and regular reports for project progress and contract performance
  • Monitor projects for contract performance with support from the Business Services team.
  • Assist with the implementation and progress of Client's Project Control initiatives applying knowledge of rules of credit.
  • Use spreadsheets and scheduling tools to track and forecast progress across multiple projects, identifying potential cost overruns, scope creep, and margin erosion early and analyzing variance from expectation.
  • Use data such as timesheets, material costs, contractor costs and indirect costs to accurately track spending per project against budget
  • Other duties as assigned.

Role Specifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years in a Project Controls Specialist, Project Accountant or similar role is required. Accounting/Finance Diploma is considered an asset.

  • Experience in the Mechanical Services or Construction Industry.

  • Knowledge of project management principles, concepts, practices, processes and expectations along with change management processes.

  • Proven ability to manage costs across multiple projects for $10M+ annual budget.

  • Highly proficient in the MS Office Suite of products (Word, Excel) and Power BI.

  • Able to provide a negative result on pre-employment drug and alcohol test.
