Job Description Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Our Eglinton Crosstown West Extension (ECWE) is seeking to hire a Project Manager, Stations and Facilities reporting into the Senior Project Manager, ECWE. The Project Manager administers a variety of services for ECWE project, in a safe, timely, standardized and cost-effective manner for quality services.
What Will I Be Doing?
- Envisions project scope of work, initiates, prepares, and presents for execution, terms of reference and subsequent addenda for agreements governing the engagement of consultants
- Performs complete start to close-out project management as required to meet corporate commitments, with or without staff delegation
- Defines the need for concept, preliminary or detail design alternatives and new or improved procedures, design standards, specifications, or contract documents
- Reviews requests for acquisitions, requisitions for purchase orders, change orders for contracts and addenda for consultant agreements
- Ensures that capital projects for new infrastructure, maximizes customer service, satisfy internal stakeholder requirements, incorporate external agency requirements, and serve public interests
- Manages design and construction projects involving effective coordination and liaison with a large number of internal and external stakeholders – including other areas of the Capital Projects Group and other Metrolinx departments, municipal or agency partners.
- Reviews and evaluates Technical Advisors (TA)/Project Co’s studies, reports, design proposals, project specific output specifications, concept reference designs, contract documents, to meet established policies, procedures, standards and project objectives.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- Completion of a degree or diploma in Architectural, Engineering or a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
- Demonstrates experience in project management, preferably within the public sector.
- Project Management Professional (PMP), certification is an asset
- Registration as a Professional Engineer or Architect in the Province of Ontario is an asset
- Station and ancillary facilities design or construction experience is an asset.
- Project management experience to manage assigned multi-disciplinary projects of high value and complexity and supervise staff engaged in all stages of project management from start to close-out
- Knowledge of passenger transportation industry and projects is an asset
- Knowledge of municipal, TTC, Metrolinx and other national or international rail and transit standards is an asset
- Prior experience with any aspect of design, construction and commissioning of multi-disciplinary transit projects is strongly desires
- Participation in development phase, Progressive-Design Build (PDB) contract model will be considered a strong asset
- A valid Ontario “G” Driver’s Licence is an asset for regular site visits.
