This position supports the finance function for CMHA & Community Shared Finance Services model. The incumbent will be responsible in preparing and analyzing financial and statistical reports that meet internal and external reporting requirements. The incumbent should develop and maintain processes to ensure integrity of reporting; to internal stakeholders and to Ontario Heath (OH), and Agencies.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the position is responsible for the following:
- Assist in annual budgeting and development of financial targets.
- Maintain and develop statistical and financial models to capture and reflect current trends in resource utilization and their likely impacts, plus determine required journal entries through account analysis and post monthly.
- Upload statistical data as provided on a monthly basis where possible.
- Preparation of cash flow statement and alert the Director for foreseeable cash flow issues, as needed.
- Compile balance sheet, income statement and related statistical information and assist with graphical presentation for the monthly Board Package.
- Reconcile all OH and MOHLTC funding related to base and one time funding, projects and other externally generated revenue.
- Prepare quarterly MIS compliant trial balance and annual ARR reporting using the Ministry site specific platform.
- Verify payroll, accounts payable/receivable, accruals, prepaids and all other balance sheet/income statement accounts for allocation and accuracy.
- Ensure the timely submission of monthly financial statements and other internal statistical reports, including sub-agency and externally funded programs required reporting based on the scheduled reporting deadlines.
- Assist with preparation of HST semi- annual reporting, and property tax rebate submission.
- Ensure external revenue recoveries are being processed following agreements/contracts/MOU.
- Assist with and/or present basic core financial strategies to non-finance staff for better understanding of funding allocation decisions, explaining reasons for specific restrictions in hiring and spending.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Business or Commerce with a minimum of 6-10 years of experience.
- A Certified Accounting Designation would be considered an asset.
- Experience in the public or not-for-profit sector and in a unionized environment will be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of financial/accounting processes with reference to GAAP and professional ethics.
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a car.
- Preference will be given to a qualified candidate who is proficient in both official languages.
Hours of Work: 35 hours/week, Flexible hours are required to meet the position requirements.
Salary: Commensurate with experience, inclusive of HOOPP.
