Bakery Packaging Manager
Location: Summerhill Market – Bakery Production Kitchen (Toronto)

Our Bakery Production Kitchen plays a central role in producing the handcrafted baked goods our customers love — from pastries and breads to gourmet desserts and seasonal specialties.
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Bakery Packaging Manager to lead our packaging and order fulfillment team. This role ensures that all bakery products are packaged beautifully, labeled accurately, quality-checked, and prepared for shipment to all Summerhill Market store locations.
Position Summary
The Bakery Packaging Manager oversees daily packaging operations, manages order fulfillment for store deliveries, ensures consistent product presentation, and leads a team responsible for the final stage of bakery production. This role requires strong leadership, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the Bakery Packaging Team to ensure accurate, efficient, and high-quality packaging of all bakery products
- Oversee daily order fulfillment, ensuring all items are prepared, organized, and staged for shipment to store locations
- Perform final quality checks to ensure products meet Summerhill Market’s standards for appearance, freshness, labeling, and consistency
- Ensure all packaged goods are labeled correctly with ingredients, allergens, dates, and SKU information
- Maintain organized workflows, storage areas, and packaging stations
- Train, coach, and support team members in packaging techniques, product knowledge, safety, and efficiency
- Monitor production schedules to ensure timely completion of orders
- Collaborate with Bakery Managers, Drivers, and Commissary teams to coordinate timely deliveries
- Identify opportunities for workflow improvements, packaging efficiencies, and waste reduction
- Maintain and enforce all food safety, quality control, sanitation, and health regulations
- Support special projects, seasonal items, high-volume periods, and holiday production
- Communicate daily production updates and challenges to leadership
Qualifications
- 2–3 years of experience in food production, bakery operations, packaging, or a related supervisory role
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent attention to detail and quality assurance
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Knowledge of food safety, labeling standards, and packaging best practices
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting up to 40 lbs
- Effective communication and problem-solving abilities
- Flexible availability, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required
