Vancity is a member-owned credit union built on the principles of inclusion and social justice. A relentless commitment to their values has helped them challenge the status quo and break down barriers since day one in 1946. They have bold commitments to make Vancity net-zero by 2040 across all mortgages and loans and are pursuing strategies on Indigenous banking and to improve the financial resilience of their members.
Vancity is the largest private sector Living Wage Employer in Canada and has been consistently recognized as one of the Top Employers in Canada. If you’re interested in joining their team of 2,700 diverse individuals and accessing competitive rewards and benefits, all while knowing you are part of a greater movement, then apply today!
Your Role in Supporting Our Members:
As the Manager, Application Technology for our Finance IT team, you’ll lead the development, integration, delivery, and ongoing management and support of technology solutions across a variety of financial applications to improve both our staff and member experience. You will be an individual contributor your first couple of months as you work with our business partners to identify the financial technologies they need, then hire a small team with the expertise to implement, manage, and enhance those technologies. Then you’ll lead that team. This includes working with vendors, our business partners and other internal Technology teams. While this is an ongoing, operational leadership role, your first major project will be leading and implementing a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
This role will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office or Ontario home based office. Vancouver-based candidates may be expected to come into office at least once per week.
How You'll Make an Impact:
- Coordinating team and vendor resources to support business applications used by Accounting, Financial Planning and Analysis, Reporting, and Treasury team members.
- Leading the upcoming ERP system implementation, including planning (likely in coordination with a Project Manager), management of your own team’s efforts in the implementation, vendor coordination, and business stakeholder engagement.
- Authorizing and overseeing IT change requests to ensure changes align with business requirements and follow configuration and release management procedures.
- Monitoring production changes to ensure adherence to IT standards and minimal impact on business operations, following the systems development life cycle (SDLC).
- Building a deep understanding of Vancity’s technologies, applications, member needs, strategic goals, and industry standards.
- Collaborating across the organization to evolve and prioritize backlogs, manage application roadmaps, assess opportunities for enhancement, and support high-quality solution delivery.
- Partnering with business stakeholders to define technical solutions, assess feasibility, prioritize feature delivery, and deliver improvements that meet member and business needs.
- Monitoring application performance, preparing metrics on the health of your applications and processes, analyzing data, and ensuring availability of 24-hour support.
- Managing application development and support activities to maintain compliance, ensure vendor support, and optimize systems for efficiency.
- Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and collaboration across teams.
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline; or equivalent knowledge gained through work experience and courses.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in IT application management, systems support, or technology delivery, with at least 2 years in a leadership capacity.
- Experience configuring an enterprise software application using more than a Graphical User Interface (GUI), such as via XML, JSON, or by writing code in the past 2 years.
- Experience leading ERP implementations and working with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) is strongly desired.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and managing vendor relationships.
- Knowledge of SDLC, ITIL practices, change management, and release management processes.
- Strong understanding of application performance monitoring, reporting, and optimization.
- Ability to partner with stakeholders to define business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to build trust with both technical and non-technical audiences, including executives.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to lead through complexity.
- Experience in the financial services industry or with banking applications is considered an asset.
You’ll Thrive Here If You Are:
- Strategic – You align application technology decisions with business goals and member needs.
- Collaborative – You bring together cross-functional teams and vendors to achieve shared objectives.
- Decisive – You make informed decisions quickly, balancing risk, compliance, and business priorities.
We value lived experience, so if you are interested in this role, we encourage you to apply even if you feel your skills don't perfectly align with those listed.
What You’ll Earn:
The salary range for this role is $102,200 to $153,200. Base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity.
