About the role
As a Senior GCP Cloud Engineer you will make an impact and be part of the Cognizant Infrastructure Services Team reporting to our Senior Manager. You will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining scalable cloud infrastructure, ensuring security best practices, and supporting cross-functional teams.
In this role, you will
- Manage and optimize GCP services including GCE, GKE, IAM, GCS, and other commonly used components.
- Design, build, and troubleshoot Terraform deployment templates for cloud infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain Helm charts and Docker images for cloud-native applications.
- Implement and enforce Kubernetes security best practices including RBAC, network policies, and secrets management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support SaaS platform deployments and partner integrations.
- Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using tools like Terraform and Deployment Manager.
- Manage VM images, OS configurations (Linux/Unix), and system-level optimizations.
What you’ll need to succeed (required skills)
- 4–6 years of hands-on experience with Terraform in cloud environments.
- 2–3 years of experience with Helm and Docker in production-grade deployments.
- Strong understanding of container orchestration using Kubernetes/GKE.
- Solid grasp of cloud security principles and Kubernetes security configurations.
- Experience with SaaS architectures and deployment models.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Python).
What will help you stand out (preferred skills)
- Knowledge of performance tuning and cost optimization strategies for GCP.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across networking, infrastructure, and application layers.
- Google Cloud Certified – Professional Cloud Architect (preferred but not mandatory)
