**PLEASE NOTE:**This is a temporary assignment until December 31, 2026. The work schedule for the position is 12 months.
Key A****ccountabilities
The primary function of this position is to facilitate the administration of Payroll, in compliance with Payroll related legislation and Board policies and procedures by:
- Analyzing and auditing payroll results on a bi-weekly basis
- Validating mandatory, statutory, and voluntary deductions and setting up Deferred Salary Plan deductions and maintaining DSP payments and withdrawals
- Validating payments with bi-weekly reports to be forwarded to various third parties (Union Dues, Charities, Associations, etc.)
- Calculating salary overpayments
- Online transactional input/edits of payroll changes, (e.g., mileage expenses, credit union, overtime, charitable donations, allowances, etc.)
- Processing Garnishments, Family Support Payments
- Calculating and issuing individual and mass Records of Employment utilizing the WEB ROE
- Executing SAP generated reports and queries to assist in the validation of payroll results
- Completing/processing/formatting requests for payroll information from various government agencies, unions, employees, online audit etc.
- Drafting and preparing correspondence for supervisor's signature
- Responding to email, telephone and in-person inquiries
- Supporting the secretarial desk duties on a rotational basis for breaks and lunch as scheduled
- Assisting with departmental projects/peak workload as required
Performing other duties relating to the function of the Payroll Department
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum two (2) year College Diploma in Accounting and Payroll or related field/equivalent
- Enrollment in the CPA Program – Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) is mandatory
- Minimum of one (1) year current payroll related experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. (e.g., Excel, Access)
- Advanced skills in computerized Human Resources/Payroll integrated system, experience in SAP an asset
- Proven accounting and analytical skills
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure in a deadline-oriented environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
This is a G****rade 6 CUPE Local 1328 union position with a biweekly salary range of **$2,**449.37 - $2,717.84.
