Estimator (Engineering) – Commercial Construction Bouctouche, NB

Our client, a leader in innovative building solutions, is seeking a precise and analytical Estimator (Engineering) to join their commercial construction team. In this pivotal role, you will lead the preparation, coordination, and submission of competitive, high-quality project estimates and proposals. Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, you will be responsible for reviewing commercial tenders/RFQs, driving accurate cost estimations, and managing the complete bid submission lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities Bid Management & Proposal Development Analyze & Evaluate: Review commercial construction RFQs, RFPs, and tender documents to identify project scope, potential risks, exclusions, and strategic opportunities. Technical Writing: Draft clear, concise technical tender responses, translating complex scopes, assumptions, and methodologies into compliant, perfectly structured submission content. Process Coordination: Lead the end-to-end bid process, including orchestrating kick-off meetings, establishing bid schedules, and securing internal approvals. Compliance: Organize and prepare proposals to guarantee consistent quality, accuracy, and absolute compliance with client requirements, ensuring technical responses are internally aligned and contract-ready.

Cost Estimation & Analysis Detailed Costing: Build accurate, competitive cost estimates based on contractual requirements, drawings, specifications, and historical data. Technical Take-Offs: Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, bills of materials (BOM), and scope documents to calculate labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Supply Chain Liaison: Request, analyze, and evaluate pricing structures from external subcontractors and suppliers. Lifecycle Evaluation: Assess scope changes, execute trade-off studies, and calculate cost impacts throughout the project lifecycle. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Reporting

Project Handover: Prepare detailed contract summaries and briefing documents to seamlessly support Operations and Project Management teams. Internal Alignment: Partner closely with production, project management, and engineering teams to conduct quantity take-offs and pricing exercises. Data Integrity: Maintain highly organized, accurate bid, contract, and customer records. Optimization: Drive the continuous improvement of internal estimating tools, templates, and processes.

Education & Experience Education: Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience). Experience: 2–5+ years of direct experience in estimating, cost control, or bid management within a construction environment.

Industry Assets: Experience with modular construction, residential, or commercial building projects is highly valued.

Technical Skills & Tools Software: Strong working knowledge of estimating systems and tools (experience with ERP or dedicated estimating software is a major asset). Applications: Advanced proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, specifically high-level Excel skills. Technical Editing: The ability to produce blacklines is considered an asset.

Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills across all mediums, including in-person environments.
