The Opportunity
Columbia College is looking for a full-time Housing Coordinator to join our Student Services department. This is a full-time position working from Monday through Friday, 35 hours per week.
START DATE: November 2025
SUMMARY
The Housing Coordinator is responsible for arranging, managing, and supporting housing placements for Columbia College students, either with Canadian host families (Homestay) or in College-supported housing through GEC. The Coordinator also connects students with external housing services and guides housing and cultural adjustment, ensuring every student has access to a safe, positive, and supportive living environment during their time in Canada.
The role reports to the Student Services Director. It requires close collaboration with College administration, international agents, and local host families, while also overseeing all administrative aspects of the Housing Program, including the development, implementation, and enforcement of housing-related guidelines, policies, and evaluations. Success in this role depends on a flexible, culturally sensitive, and student-centered approach to working with diverse student and family communities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Homestay Host Family Management:

Recruit, screen, train, and support host families.
-
Conduct home visits, ensure policy compliance, and organize annual host seminars.
-
Maintain documentation and enforce program standards.
-
Organize annual host seminars and provide ongoing guidance.
2. Student Placement and Support:
-
Match students with appropriate accommodation based on preferences and needs.
-
Coordinate arrivals, including airport pickup.
-
Deliver orientation sessions and provide ongoing support during placements.
-
Manage transitions, terminations, and ensure compliance with college policies and curfews.
3. Support and Mediation
-
Provide ongoing support and conflict resolution for students and hosts.
-
Respond promptly to emergencies, mental health concerns, and behavioural issues.
-
Act as a liaison with college staff and external agencies as needed.
4. Communication:
-
Promote housing opportunities and respond to student enquiries.
-
Maintain proactive communication with international agents and custodians when appropriate
-
Address housing issues, clearly explain housing policies, and address issues promptly.
-
Ensure housing advice and information is available to students, signposting to external agencies where appropriate.
-
Be available 24/7 for urgent issues involving students or hosts.
5. Administration and Record-Keeping
-
Manage invoicing, refunds, and custodianship documentation.

Manage accurate records, monitor payments, and prepare reports using the College's Student Information System.

Support program development, budgeting, and compliance processes.
6. Professional Development and Collaboration
Participate in professional development opportunities and housing-related conferences.
Collaborate with internal staff and external networks to stay current with best practices.
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree in education, or related field.
Minimum 3 years of demonstrated experience in housing coordination, or property management (preferably within an educational or student services setting).
Proven ability to resolve conflicts and provide mediation in a culturally sensitive manner.
Excellent communication and customer service skills, with experience supporting diverse populations.
Excellent organization and time management skills.
- Ability to respond effectively to emergencies and make sound decisions under pressure.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with student information systems,
Compensation
In addition to working with an inclusive, progressive group of people, we offer a competitive compensation package which includes:

$71,720.93 - $78,154.71 as the starting annual gross salary range, based on full-time hours, qualifications, and relevant experience.

All Columbia College employees are covered by the Columbia College Employment Agreement, including a robust health and dental benefits package, a generous RRSP plan, and vacation.

Fitness and a Professional Development Allowance after completing full-time annual hours.
