Cedar LNG brings together the Haisla Nation and Pembina Pipeline Corporation (Pembina) to develop the first and largest Indigenous majority-owned LNG infrastructure project in Canada, with one of the cleanest environmental profiles in the world. Cedar LNG is developing a floating LNG facility in Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada, within the traditional territory of the Haisla Nation. The project is strategically positioned to leverage Canada’s abundant natural gas supply and British Columbia’s growing LNG infrastructure to produce industry-leading, low-carbon, cost-competitive Canadian LNG for overseas markets. With a positive final investment decision announced on June 25, 2024, construction of the facility is underway with operations anticipated by the end of 2028.
Critical to Cedar LNG’s success to date has been the strong support of neighbouring Indigenous Nations and communities. Years of collaboration and constructive engagement have helped to ensure the project will be constructed and operated safely and responsibly, while providing benefits through construction jobs and contracting, training opportunities, long-term employment, and other measures that will contribute to economic prosperity in the region. Up to 500 people will be working at Cedar LNG during the peak of construction. Approximately 100 people will be working at the facility full-time during operation.

Overview: Reporting to the Director, LNG Operations, the Specialist, Maintenance & Reliability will use their expertise to ensure Cedar LNG benefits from best-in-class asset performance management and reliability practices. The Specialist, Maintenance & Reliability will focus on maintenance and reliability risk management while collaborating with stakeholders from Engineering, Maintenance and Operations to define, design, develop, monitor and continuously improve a sustainable maintenance and reliability program for all facility assets. This will ensure the FLNG maximizes equipment up-time and optimizes life cycle costs.
This role will focus on:
- Preventative and predictive maintenance execution;
- Planning for critical equipment spare parts;
- Robust plans for all maintenance activities; and
- Implementation of reliability tools and processes.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

- Coordinating the development and maintenance of the Cedar FLNG Asset Care Plans (ACPs) to ensure that the optimum proactive maintenance strategies (PMs) and spare parts stocking are achieved through the effective application of RCM/FMECA techniques;
- PM Programs Optimization – coordinate the rationalizing of PM strategies (ACPs) to achieve best value (determining effectiveness and efficiency of the selected maintenance strategy);
- Coordination of the Cedar FLNG’s Condition Monitoring Programs (e.g. vibration analysis, lube oil analysis, partial discharge, etc.) including the design, management and analysis of the various programs;
- Working with the FLNG Warehouse team, assist with spare parts analysis: where used, when used, Material Masters (MMs), optimization and rationalization;
- Working with the Maintenance Superintendent, provide stewardship and oversight of the Maintenance Department procedures;
- Assist Foremen with maintenance training and competency;
- Program development, implementation and management of;
- Winterization strategy;
- Asset obsolescence strategy;
- Leaking Valve registry;
- Safety Critical Element program for Safety Instrument Systems, Shutdown Devices, PSVs, etc.;
- Assist Maintenance Department technicians and Foremen with Level 2 troubleshooting and problem solving;
- Supporting Risk Registry with the identification of Problems, Threats and Opportunities;
- Development and facilitation of discipline specific (Rotating, Static, Instrumentation, Electrical and Analyzer) Reliability Improvement Teams and facilitate a reliability Health Check process for each;
- Supporting corporate Reliability Team with the site rollout of corporate maintenance and reliability initiatives, e.g. Master Data Management;
- Supports establishment of associated reliability and availability targets (KPIs) to achieve asset performance and organizational objectives;
- Maintain facility reliability standards, e.g. Criticality, Maintenance Task Analysis, Precision Maintenance;
- Working with the site Planning and Scheduling teams ensures that the site maintainable asset location register (FLOC) data integrity in SAP is maintained;
- Development and production of site reliability key performance metrics, e.g. Failure Rates/MTTR;
- Ensures that maintainability and reliability concepts are considered as part of any new design or modifications, e.g. MTTR’s, Failure Rates, RAM modeling;
- Owns the facility RAM model, keep the model current and supports strategic planning;
- Applies Life Cycle value analysis decision support for replacement-in-kind vs replace/redesign options;
- Facilitate criticality assessments to align asset management priorities between operations, maintenance and engineering;
- Perform Bad Actor Analysis using various techniques (e.g. Pareto Analysis, Weibull Analysis) and data sources (e.g. Work Order History/Failures, Incidents, Impairments);
- Facilitate basic Root Cause Analysis (RCA) sessions, writes RCA reports; provides guidance on other RCA techniques;
- Demonstrate learning agility by actively seeking feedback, adapting to new information quickly, and applying learnings to improve performance and deliver results in a dynamic environment;
- Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace; and
- All other duties as assigned.

- Bachelor degree in Engineering, Technology Diploma, or Trade (JM) Certification;
- 10+ years experience working in an industrial plant maintenance, operations or engineering environment with previous experience applying maintenance and reliability tools and processes at practicable level;
- Experience in cross-functional maintenance and reliability program implementation and the associated change management;
- Understands, creates and maintains a visible commitment to process and personal safety, as well as the safety of others;
- Adheres to PEMBINA’s Values to drive results and culture;
- Subject Matter Expert with full understanding of reliability and maintainability concepts, tools, technologies and methodologies;
- Strong knowledge of hydrocarbon industry, automation/instrumentation, electrical, mechanical rotating or static equipment background - other industrial environments will be considered;
- Strong investigative skills and an ability to ask questions to draw out required information;
- Good judgment in problem solving and timely decision-making;
- Familiarity with RCM, RCA and RAM, ERP (SAP), Process Historian tools would be an asset;
- Strong literacy in data analysis methods would be an asset;
- Strong interpersonal skills and a professional approach to dealing with Pembina staff, vendors and engineering contractors;
- Effective communications both in verbal and written format;
- Can manage task assignments in a matrix organization and have strong analytical and troubleshooting skills;
- Team player: willing to continuously and proactively collaborate across all disciplines in the organization including vendors, contractors and regulatory bodies;
- Demonstrated ability to create informal networks across departments to influence continuous improvement and change;
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new tools, technologies, or processes and apply them effectively in a fast-paced environment;
- Self-aware, able to recognize when stress or fatigue is impacting personal performance and takes steps to mitigate; and
- The ability to travel North America and Internationally.
