Job Description :
Champlain College Lennoxville is seeking the services of a replacement ACADEMIC ADVISOR to work on a temporary, full-time basis (35 hours per week) in the Registrar’s office.
FUNCTIONS
Reporting to the Dean of Academic Organization and Registrar, the Academic Advisor will advise and assist students in many aspects of their academic progress. This person is also responsible for developing tools and activities that promote student success.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Student Academic Progression

Advise and assist students in many aspects of their academic progression, including, but not limited to course selection, course registration, schedule modification, program changes, course withdrawal, course drop, additional course requests, permanent and temporary incomplete requests, DEC without specialization request. Inform students of the impact on any changes on their progression. Pay specific attention to atypical progressions, including students with special needs, student-athletes and Law 14 requirements.

Receive and approve commandite requests.

Receive and recommend substitution and equivalency requests, after validation with department and programs.

Analyze students’ files and recommend certifications.

Inform students about the Règlement sur le régime des études collégiales and the College's educational policies (e.g., IPESA).
Student Success
- Apply the Bylaw concerning student success, notably by doing individual follow-ups with students on probation. Apply the necessary sanctions when applicable.
- Collaborate with members of the student services team to develop and implement strategies to foster students’ successes for students on probation.
- Identify the underlying causes of failures and withdrawals/drops and recommend appropriate support measures. Provide individualized follow-ups.
- Organize and lead activities that promote student success, including the development and design of support tools.
- Collaborate on the elaboration, implementation and revision of the students’ success plan.

Participate in the evaluation, revisions, and implementation of academic programs.

Collaborate and organize orientation and integration activities for new students.

Facilitate communication between students and faculty, including department and program coordinators.
Perform all other related duties, as requested by the Dean of Academic Organization and Registrar.
Requirements :
Education
Undergraduate degree in an appropriate field of specialization particularly education or guidance counselling services.
Other
Effective communication skills in both English and French.
Must be comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite.
Knowledge of the Skytech Pedagogical System
Must possess good interpersonal skills.
**Duration of contract :**1 year
Salary Scale :$54,442 to $93,306 annually
