Purpose of the job
The incumbent company will be responsible for the customs clearance process for La Vie en Rose and Bikini Village products in Canada and the United States, in accordance with organizational policies and procedures in order to comply with relevant Canadian and U.S. laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and comply with standards, procedures, laws and regulations for all shipments related to the direct import, export and intertrade processes;
- Build and maintain positive business relationships with our customs officers, CBSA, CBP, etc.;
- In-depth knowledge of CARM and ACE navigation;
- Review and submit documentation for customs clearance of Canadian imports to ensure customs compliance;
- Coordinate exports from Montreal to U.S. stores, including submitting export documentation to our customs broker;
- Responsible for producing all trade documents required for the entry of goods into the United States and ensuring that they are received in a timely manner prior to customs clearance (commercial invoice, packing list, letter, MID list, certificate of origin, etc.), ensuring that documentation complies with customs regulations and requirements;
- Assign HS and HTS codes to La Vie en Rose and Bikini Village products and maintain an accurate database of tariff codes;
- Conduct regular internal audits of CAD entries and input summaries (Form 7501);
- Verification of SOAs for Canadian and U.S. entries, submitting them to accounts payable for payment;
- Review and approval of customs brokers' invoices;
- Research ongoing changes in legal requirements and impact assessment on current procedures;
- Identify if other government agency requirements apply to La Vie en Rose products;
- Ensure constant communication with the various internal departments of the head office regarding the tracking and movement of goods and non-goods;
- Initiate effective and constructive solutions to problems and challenges presented in shipping and delivery;
- Perform frequent checks to ensure that all information is up to date in our systems before generating business documents;
- Other related tasks.
Your profile
- Expertise in customs compliance : You are proficient in import/export laws, regulations and ensure the compliance of shipments in Canada and the United States.
- Document management and rigor : You prepare, validate and submit all commercial and customs documents with precision, ensuring their accuracy and compliance.
- Analysis and control : You carry out audits, validate data (HS/HTS CODES, SOA, entries) and identify deviations to ensure the integrity of operations.
- Collaboration and problem solving : You work closely with internal and external partners (brokers, agencies, internal teams) and propose effective solutions to ensure the fluidity of shipments.
Requirements
- College diploma (or equivalent) in Import-Export/International Trade;
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian and U.S. import regulations;
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant export experience;
- English and French, written and spoken (The person will have to work with suppliers outside of Canada);
- Good organizational skills, ability to work under pressure and manage priorities;
- Dynamic, autonomous, good interpersonal skills and a team player;
- Experience with various order management systems;
- Versatile, initiative, attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines;
- Good communication skills, ability to maintain good relationships with internal and external clients;
- Ability to manage various administrative tasks;
- Good knowledge of MS Office: Excel and Outlook.
