Test Lead (Data Migration) | 6-Month Contract Initially | Remote (EST Hours)

Our client, is seeking an experienced Test Lead to join a major enterprise data migration program.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the testing strategy and delivery for a large-scale transformation program involving the migration of business-critical data from multiple source systems, primarily payroll and HR systems, into Workday.

Working closely with engineers, business stakeholders and customers, you'll be responsible for defining the overall testing approach, coordinating testing activities across multiple workstreams and ensuring high-quality outcomes throughout the program lifecycle.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys leading from the front. While you'll own the overall testing strategy and governance, you'll also be happy to remain hands-on when needed, supporting engineering teams with testing, data validation and defect investigation to help reduce issues before User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

What You'll Be Doing

Define and lead the overall testing strategy for a complex data migration program. Develop detailed test plans, schedules and execution approaches across multiple workstreams. Lead System Integration Testing (SIT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), regression testing and end-to-end validation activities. Support engineering teams with hands-on testing, data validation and defect investigation to improve quality before UAT. Validate migrated payroll and HR data, ensuring accuracy, completeness and reconciliation across multiple source systems. Lead defect triage sessions, ensuring issues are prioritized, tracked and resolved effectively. Work closely with customers, business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure testing aligns with business requirements and program milestones. Monitor testing progress, quality metrics and program risks, providing regular updates to project leadership. Support production readiness, cutover planning and post-go-live validation activities.

We're Looking For

Proven experience as a Test Lead or Test Manager on large-scale enterprise programs. Strong experience defining and delivering test strategies, test plans and quality assurance frameworks. Demonstrated experience testing enterprise data migration or data transformation projects. Comfortable remaining hands-on when required to support engineering teams with testing and data validation. Strong experience managing defects, coordinating testing across multiple workstreams and driving quality throughout delivery. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with confidence working directly with customers, business users and technical teams. Experience working within Agile or hybrid delivery environments.

Desirable Experience

Previous consulting or professional services experience. Experience working on Workday implementation, migration or transformation programs Experience testing data migrations involving payroll, HR or HCM data from multiple source systems into Workday. Exposure to complex system integrations and enterprise cloud transformation program.
