About the Role
Position function: The Millwright Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on facility infrastructure, equipment, and utility systems to ensure safe and efficient operations in a food and beverage manufacturing environment. The technician reports to the Maintenance Manager (or specify another title if different).
Scope: The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing routine and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of the facility’s infrastructure, equipment, and utilities systems to ensure optimal operations within a food and beverage manufacturing environment. This role supports compliance with food safety, sanitation, and environmental standards while ensuring minimal disruption to production.
Key Responsibilities
- Support daily operations by addressing service calls related to equipment, utilities, and facility needs.
- Ensure food safety compliance by adhering to GMPs, sanitation standards, and company SOPs.
- Document work performed, update logs, and maintain accurate records in CMMS or other systems.
- Installation & Dismantling: Setting up new machinery, such as assembly lines, and disassembling old equipment for relocation or repair.
- Maintenance & Repair: Performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical problems, and replacing defective parts to keep machinery in working order.
- Fabrication: Welding, pipe fitting, plumbing and creating machine components as needed.
- Safety & Compliance :Following strict safety regulations and adhering to quality standards throughout the work process.
- Mechanical Aptitude: A deep understanding of how machines operate and what makes them break down.
- Blueprint Interpretation: The ability to read and understand technical drawings and manuals.
- Welding & Fabrication: Proficiency with welding machines, cutting torches, and other fabrication tools.
- Troubleshooting: The ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge / Skills & Experiences
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary certification in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or building maintenance preferred.
- Food industry experience is an asset
- Minimum 2–4 years of experience in a facilities or maintenance technician role, preferably in a regulated food, beverage, or pharmaceutical environment.
- Knowledge of building systems: HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire suppression.
- Working knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and food safety protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics.
- Perofrm other duties as assigned.
