We're looking for one (1) Maintenance Worker to join our team!

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Lead Hand, the Maintenance Worker: Trades is responsible for maintenance services on buildings, grounds and vehicles owned by Wood's Homes. The Maintenance Worker: Trades will demonstrate due diligence in being exceptional in the delivery of high-quality services and in meeting the requirements of the Health and Safety Management System at Wood’s Homes.

Accountabilities and Competencies:

  • Ability to problem solve, find, and implement efficiencies in both day to day and long-range facility needs and planning
  • Good organizational skills
  • Strong relationship building skills; high EQ.
  • Informed and empowered decision maker.
  • Due diligence in meeting all Health and Safety management System requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs preventive maintenance as required.
  • Performs carpentry work - repairing windows and screens, minor repairs to furniture, building renovations and modifications.
  • Performs minor plumbing tasks.
  • Performs electrical repair work in maintaining small motors and appliances; replaces fuses and light bulbs.
  • Requisitions and maintains supplies of materials required for maintenance and caretaker services.
  • Arranges for servicing, maintenance, or repair work, as required, for all Wood’s Homes buildings, equipment, and grounds.
  • Performs or arranges for vehicle maintenance, routine servicing, and cleaning.
  • Completes all required health and safety training
  • Reports workplace hazards, unsafe or unhealthy conditions, or incidents (including near misses, injuries, or equipment damage) to their direct supervisor.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending, sitting, kneeling
  • Transporting and lifting equipment
  • Indoor and outdoor work
  • Travel throughout Wood's Homes locations and Programs

Qualifications:

  • Education: Completion of grade ten (10) and is a recognized trade journeyman.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in maintenance or trade field; candidates with proven plumbing experience will be strongly preferred.
