This role is a hybrid position which will require you to meet with your team twice weekly at our office. There may be more days required if projects and workload require this.

Job Description

The Manager –Controllership, and FP&A reports to, works directly with and supports the Director, Controllership and FP&A and works indirectly with the Senior Manager Tax and other Finance team members. This role is accountable for providing managerial support to all aspects of controllership (audit, internal/external controls facilitation, balance sheet recon), Financial Planning and Analysis, forecasting processes, consolidation (roll-up consolidated numbers), and special projects across Sodexo Canada. This role focuses on the maintenance of the balance sheet and corporate SG&A management. Additionally, the job also supports the income and sales tax compliance department and may also work with outside consultants and auditors as required.

Financial Processes: Coordinate HQ month-end close process, monthly business review process, and flash reporting to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

Manage Controllership and Compliance: Ensure adherence to controllership governance and internal controls, support internal audit, and foster a culture of accountability and compliance across all financial operations.

Budget/Forecast Management (SG&A): Work closely with HQ functions (e.g. Sales, supply chain, marketing, and IT, to provide financial support and guidance, and identify opportunities to optimize costs.

Tax Entries/Remittances/Reconciliation/Audits: Supports the Senior Manager -Tax and Controllership in all activities related to tax planning and compliance, cash repatriations, quarterly provisions, and is responsible for all monthly tax entries and remittances; Files all corporate income; sales and withholding tax returns for Sodexo Canada and its subsidiaries.Assists in managing audits by Canadian sales and income tax authorities and in the year-end audit by company auditors.

Support Special Projects: Offer financial expertise for special projects, including partnerships, new business models (e.g. short to mid-term – 3 to 6 months - process documentation, streamlining processes, consolidating processes)

Qualifications

  • Post Secondary education in Business (degree); 4 years post-secondary preferred. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Well-rounded, progressive financial management experience in a variety of functions focusing on FP&A, controllership business partnership, data-driven insights, budgeting, analysis, and/or costing. Tax experience within a multi-national environment or a similar corporate set up would be an asset
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • SAP; and other database applications
  • Filing of HST returns, participation in HST Audits would be an asset
  • Preparing journal entries, month-end routines are required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and technical skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment.
  • Detail oriented with proven ability to deliver outstanding results
  • Intermediate proficiency in financial modeling and forecasting tools
  • Relationship building, Influence, and collaboration are important skills and would be assets.
  • English required. Bilingual (French) is an asset
