The role ensures testing is risk-based, traceable to requirements, and executed with consistent quality across system, integration, data migration MOCK, regression, performance (as applicable), and user acceptance testing.

This role leads the test team and coordinates with System Integrator, Functional, Technical, Data and Analytics teams to ensure environments, test data, defect management, and go-live readiness are managed effectively, enabling a stable cutover and day-one operations.

Top 3 outcomes

Updated, Approved, and Executed Test and Quality Plan in support of the Integrated Master Test Plan covering SAP S/4HANA and all in-scope integrations Reduced delivery risk through measurable quality gates (coverage, pass rates, defect management, and readiness criteria) enabling confident progress to next stage and final go-live decisions Business adoption and operational readiness supported by successful UAT, rehearsal (cutover) validation, and transition-to-support validation

Key Decisions For This Role Would Include

Define and approve test scope, approach, and cycles (Sprint schedule (functional /technical /security unit testing)) SIT, SIT2, SIT3, MOCK cutovers, UAT and performance volume testing support), including entry/exit criteria and quality gates. Determine risk-based prioritization of testing and the minimum acceptable coverage for go-live (process, integration, roles, data, and reporting). Decide defect triage outcomes (severity/priority, workaround acceptability, retest requirements) and escalation paths. Approve environment and test data readiness plans, including refresh cadence, access controls, and constraints. Confirm readiness to proceed between test phases and to cutover (test completion, defect thresholds, business sign-off, and operational support readiness). Define reporting and KPI standards (coverage, pass rates, defect trends, and quality risks) for governance forums.

Responsibilities

Testing Strategy & Planning (Accountable)

Define and maintain the end to end testing strategy, approach, scope, cycles, and deliverables across Sprint testing, SIT, UAT, and Regression. Set standards for traceability (requirements to test), test evidence, reporting, and quality metrics; ensure consistency across workstreams and vendors. Own the integrated test plan and testing governance cadence (status, risks/issues, decisions), aligned to program milestones and release plans.

Sprint Unit Testing – Testing, Reporting, Communication (Accountable)

Set expectations and minimum standards for developer/BA unit testing (including evidence and defect logging) and ensure alignment across teams. Ensure unit test results, defects, and risks are communicated in a timely manner and rolled up into integrated quality reporting.

Management of Test Entrance/Exit Criteria (Supports / Consulted)

Define (with PM and stakeholders) the test entrance/exit criteria for each phase and ensure criteria are measurable and evidenced. Provide governance input on readiness (environments, data, scope stability, access) and identify gaps/risks requiring resolution before progression. SIT – Test Scripts, Coordination, Execution, Reporting, Onboarding, Defect Management (Accountable) Own the SIT approach and outcomes, ensuring test scripts/scenarios, schedules, and resourcing enable end to end coverage of business processes and integrations. Oversee tester onboarding (tools, access, ways of working), and ensure execution is coordinated across workstreams and vendors. Own SIT reporting (progress, pass rates, coverage, defects, quality risks) and escalate issues impacting timelines or release readiness.

SIT – Defect Resolution (Accountable)

Lead SIT defect triage and prioritization with Tech Lead, functional leads, and vendors; confirm severity/priority and required turnaround. Ensure clear ownership, timely resolution, and retest planning; track trends and systemic issues and drive root cause focus where needed.

SIT – Test Cycle Sign off (Supports)

Provide objective test results, quality metrics, and risk assessment to support the formal SIT cycle sign off decision. Validate evidence of completion against exit criteria (including defect thresholds, coverage, and outstanding risk acceptance) and recommend go/no go. UAT – Test Scripts, Coordination, Execution, Reporting, Onboarding, Defect Management (Accountable / Responsible) Accountable for UAT success and (where applicable) co responsible for execution with the Test Coordinator to ensure business validation of end to end processes. Ensure UAT scripts and scenarios reflect business outcomes, roles, and controls; coordinate environments, data, access, and tester readiness. Manage UAT defect intake, triage, reporting, and escalation; ensure defects impacting adoption/readiness are resolved or formally risk accepted.

UAT – Defect Resolution (Supports)

UAT – Testing Sign off (Consulted)

Expertise

Proven experience leading end‑to‑end testing for large, integrated enterprise programs (SIT, UAT, Regression; performance testing support as applicable). Strong knowledge of test lifecycle management: scope, planning, scheduling, resource coordination, execution governance, reporting, and sign‑off support. Hands‑on expertise with defect management (triage, prioritization, ownership, retest planning, metrics, and trend analysis) across multiple teams and vendors.

SAP S/4HANA & Clean Core Awareness

Working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA solution components and common integration patterns (interfaces, middleware, data replication), sufficient to drive effective SIT/UAT coverage. Understanding of fit‑to‑standard and clean core principles and how extension choices (BTP/side‑by‑side, custom code, configuration) affect test scope, regression, and upgradeability. Familiarity with SAP delivery artifacts (process design, configuration rationale, transport strategy) and how they translate into test design and evidence.

Test Governance & Delivery Skills

Demonstrated ability to establish test governance (cadence, RAID management, decisioning, quality metrics) and operate within stage‑gate frameworks. Experience defining and managing entrance/exit criteria, quality gates, and evidence requirements aligned to program readiness and cutover milestones. Skilled in developing risk‑based test coverage and ensuring traceability from requirements/processes to scenarios and outcomes. Comfort working with and holding accountable system integrators and vendors for test deliverables, execution discipline, and timely defect resolution.

Tools, Reporting & Integration Awareness

Experience with enterprise test/defect tools (e.g., SAP Cloud ALM, Azure DevOps, or equivalent) and producing audit‑ready evidence packages. Ability to design and communicate quality dashboards (coverage, pass rates, defect aging/burn‑down, severity mix, readiness risks) for governance forums. Understanding of how integrations, data migration/mock cutovers, and environment readiness impact SIT/UAT planning and execution.

Professional & Interpersonal Skills

Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including the ability to translate testing outcomes into clear go/no‑go recommendations. Confident facilitation of defect triage and resolution forums, balancing delivery urgency with risk and quality. Structured, detail‑oriented approach to planning, documentation, and evidence management in regulated/governed environments.
