ABOUT THE POSITION
The Marketing department is looking for a Marketing Generalist II to join the Columbia team at our Canada Headquarters located in London, Ontario for a 16-month contract. The Marketing Generalist II will work closely with the Director of Marketing to support the development of integrated marketing plans and drive their day-to-day execution with a focus on English Canada. This role encompasses the planning and execution responsibilities for a variety of marketing tactics for the Columbia brand with a focus on digital activations with key account partners, brand marketing paid media & activations and the development of seasonal planning and reporting documents. *Note, this is a contract position, however there is potential for a full-time role on our growing Canadian Marketing team.
HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
- Work closely with the Director of Marketing, driving the execution of digital focused, integrated plans targeted to increase brand awareness, consideration, and conversion.
- Actively participate in the seasonal go-to-market process with the sales and marketing teams in the development, communication, and execution of marketing initiatives, plans and presentations.
- Work closely with sales and retail marketing to build strong relationships with our key account partners and create digitally focused marketing executions aligned with retail marketing efforts designed to maximize resources and drive sell through success.
- Ensure the Columbia brand image and message are consistent with corporate directives. Working closely with the creative lead, adapt creative as needed to be relevant for the Canadian market. Ensure efforts follow brand guidelines and secure appropriate approvals as necessary.
- Support key marketing functional disciplines for the Columbia brand such as:
- Paid Media – work with agency partners and internal stakeholders to support the planning and execution of seasonal plans across multiple media platforms such as social, digital, video, streaming platforms, broadcast, OOH, etc.
- Seasonal Planning & Reporting documents – working closely with the Director of Marketing and the Canadian marketing team, draft and track seasonal planning documents to drive team coordination around targeted initiatives and create reporting documents to share with internal stakeholders.
- Events / Partnerships / Activations – support the creation of strategies and execution of events, partnerships and activations that are uniquely Canadian driving brand authenticity and creating moments to connect with consumers.
- ECOMM – stay connected with ecomm team to ensure Canada calendar alignment, messaging consistency, and paid media efficiencies.
YOU ARE
- Proficient at maintaining positive open lines of communication with all management, staff, external agency partners and other departments to contribute to the smooth flow of information and efficient operation of the marketing department.
- Experienced in planning meetings with visibility to internal sales, marketing and operations contacts, key account partners, agency partners and various marketing team members.
- Capable of supporting multiple projects from start to finish, track to deadlines, and drive positive results.
- Able to work both independently and with key stakeholders across the business, such as members of the marketing team, sales and operations teams, wholesale partners, and external agency partners.
- Knowledgeable in how to develop, communicate and execute integrated marketing plans, have knowledge of current marketing and social media trends, retail, promotional and communication techniques/procedures.
- Proficient in managing multiple marketing tactics aligned to brand and seasonal marketing objectives.
- Experienced with pitching, negotiation and contracting partners.
- Keen understanding of multi-media channels and experienced with developing and executing paid media plans.
YOU HAVE
- A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, social media, communications, or related field.
- 3-5 years’ experience in key account planning, sales, or retail marketing, paid media planning and execution, social media & activations
- A baseline understanding of the outdoor industry (skiing, trail running, hiking, camping, fishing, backpacking, etc.) through experience and/or participation (an asset).
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Experience with and comfortable speaking/presenting to large and small groups.
- A well-developed ability to read, write and speak English (French is a definite asset).
- The ability to work both on-site, at Canada Headquarters in London, Ontario, as well as remotely.
- The ability to travel to key English Canada markets (i.e. Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, etc.) as well as seasonal travel to the global headquarters in Portland, OR, and special events/content shoots as required.
- The ability to work hours that exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week during peak season, rush projects or weekend/evening functions (sales meetings, trade shows, events, content shoots, etc.).
Salary Range
$70,000 – $80,000 annually

The Marketing department is looking for a Marketing Generalist II to join the Columbia team at our Canada Headquarters located in London, Ontario for a 16-month contract.
