Project Manager- Port Coquitlam

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Daily Operations: Plan, organize, direct, and control daily operations during the construction phase.
  • Schedule Management: Plan and prepare construction schedules, monitoring progress using an earned value method.
  • Contract Negotiation: Prepare contracts and confidently negotiate revisions, changes, and additions to contractual agreements.
  • Sub-Contractor Coordination: Review contract violations/additions or deletions with sub-contractors and prepare necessary documents to complete projects.
  • Financial Oversight: Understand and report job cost, profit, and forecasting estimates to accounting and management; collaborate with project administrators on billing and accounts receivable.
  • Client Liaison: Act as a client liaison/contract liaison, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • Resource Deployment: Efficiently deploy resources - people and equipment - for projects.
  • Commitment to Excellence: Demonstrate a strong commitment to Health, Safety & Environment and Quality Assurance.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A P.Eng, Applied Technologist, or equivalent Trade experience is required.
  • Having a PMP designation is considered an asset.
  • 7-10 years of applied project management experience is necessary.
  • Experience in working with subcontractors and vendors and managing schedules to meet deadlines is needed.
  • Heavy industrial projects experience, including Process Piping (Oil and Gas), is required.
  • Familiarity with equipment used in sectors such as General Contracts & Multi-discipline trades, Ports and Terminals, Heavy Equipment assembly, installations, and Bulk material handling (e.g., conveyors) is a requirement.
  • Contract documentation, contract review, and financial experience are required.
  • Knowledge of acceptable trade standards to obtain government approvals is a must.
  • Ability to prepare construction schedules, purchase orders, and other documentation as needed is necessary.
  • Excellent understanding of heavy industrial structural/mechanical components and processes is essential.
  • Proficiency in computer software such as MS Project or Primavera P6 and the Microsoft Office Suite is required.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is necessary.
