Multimedia & Economic Development Student

Position Overview: Reporting to the Communications and Economic Development Officer, this position is responsible for the creation of high-quality digital and print communications materials that highlight the Township’s services, local businesses, and community spirit. This is a highly creative role that balances office-based design with active field work across the municipality.

The successful candidate will build a comprehensive municipal photo and video "stockpile," design new promotional brochures, and support economic development by modernizing the municipal Business Directory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Capture, edit, and organize high-resolution photography and video content of Township assets and events.
  • Design professional templates (Canva/Adobe Creative Suite) and print brochures for various departments.
  • Conduct community outreach to verify and update the municipal Business Directory.
  • Develop "How-to" documentation and training materials for staff to ensure project continuity.
  • Perform administrative tasks and other duties as assigned to support departmental goals.

Position Requirements:

  • Must be a full-time student in the past academic year and returning to full-time studies in the fall of 2026.
  • Advanced skills in photo/video editing (e.g., CapCut, Premiere Pro, or mobile equivalents) and graphic design (Canva/Adobe).
  • As this role requires field-based production, access to personal photography/video equipment (DSLR or high-end mobile kit) is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to pitch original content ideas and work independently in the field/outdoors.
  • Strong writing skills for drafting guides and social media content; ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
  • A valid Ontario driver’s license (Class G or G2) and access to a reliable vehicle is required (mileage will be reimbursed).

Availability & Compensation:

Rate of Pay: $17.60/hour.

Hours: 35 hours per week. This position involves fluctuating hours, including some evenings and weekends, to capture community events.
