The Ministry of Health, Continuing Care Branch is seeking a high-performing, results-driven, strategic leader for the new, permanent position of Manager, Inspections. Located in Regina, Saskatchewan, the successful candidate will manage a team of senior program consultants and be responsible for implementation of the long-term care inspection process and performance management framework for the long-term care sector. Strategic orientation, organizational skills and ability to lead, motivate and coach employees are key to success in this position.
The Ministry of Health offers an innovative, and supportive work environment, with opportunities to provide leadership and support province-wide planning, delivery and evaluation of long-term care services.
Reporting to the Director of Continuing Care and Rehabilitation, the responsibilities for the Manager include:
- Oversee and implement, on a provincial basis, the inspection related processes in long-term care that ensure compliance with regulatory and policy requirements;
- Lead quality improvement initiatives for long-term care and oversee the maintenance of a performance management framework for long-term care;
- Monitor and report on the status of the above initiatives to ensure inspection related processes are effective, efficient and support the Ministry’s strategic direction;
- Advise senior officials to enhance decision-making capacity on existing and emerging issues in the areas of responsibility through written and verbal reports, briefing materials and decision items.
Success in this role requires:
- A relationship-builder that can model and create a positive team environment with a culture focused on respect and integrity, serving citizens, excellence and innovation, and one-team;
- A confident, diplomatic leader that communicates clearly and consistently when representing the ministry in engaging internal and external stakeholders;
- A highly-organized manager capable of leading staff hiring and development, reviewing and approving work, and other administrative duties to support a high-performing team;
- Understanding of complex policy-related issues and use sound judgement and discretion in the handling of sensitive issues;
- Application of basic research methods, analysis and review of evidence based best practices.
- The ability to plan, prioritize and balance diverse and conflicting workload pressures, taking into consideration task complexity, frequent interruptions and deadlines.
Typically, the knowledge and experience required to achieve the above is obtained through completion of a graduate degree in a health-related field, public policy, social science, or through a combination of post-secondary education and relevant management/supervisory experience in a human service setting.
