About the role

Position Title: Winter Seasonal Bartender Reports to: Restaurant Supervisor / Restaurant Manager Wage: $19.50/ph Position: Seasonal Contract October – Early April / Hourly Position

Position Overview: The Winter Seasonal Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages while delivering exceptional guest service in a lively, fast-paced mountain resort environment. Bartenders are expected to uphold high standards of cleanliness, accuracy and hospitality while managing bar flow efficiently and safely during high-volume service.

Experience and Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2+ years bartending experience in a busy restaurant or bar setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of classic cocktails, beer, wine and spirits.
  • Confident in high-volume drink preparation and multitasking under pressure.
  • Ability to upsell products and provide knowledgeable recommendations.
  • Familiar with draft systems, bar inventory and proper pouring techniques.
  • Comfortable using POS systems (Toast or similar).
  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Valid Serving It Right Certificate required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience of creating new drink menu items such as feature cocktails.
  • Previous experience in a resort or seasonal setting is an asset.
  • Knowledge of BC liquor laws and safe alcohol service best practices.
  • Experience setting up and closing down a bar independently.

Key Responsibilities but not limited to:

  • Prepare and serve cocktails, wine, beer and specialty drinks with consistency and speed.
  • Greet and interact with guests warmly while managing the bar environment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and fully stocked bar throughout service.
  • Follow BC’s liquor service laws and internal safety policies at all times.
  • Check IDs and monitor guest consumption to prevent over-service.
  • Assist servers with drink orders and coordinate service with the floor team.
  • Restock garnishes, glassware, mixers and alcohol as needed.
  • Process payments accurately and balance cash-out at end of shift.
  • Maintain professionalism and hospitality even during peak service periods.
  • Participate in opening, closing and deep cleaning duties.

Working Conditions:

  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to remain on feet for long periods during fast-paced shifts.
  • Must be able to lift 25lbs and perform tasks such as keg changes, bar restocking and repetitive motions.
  • Exposure to varying pace of service and assisting with Events.
  • May require outdoor travel between venues in snowy conditions.

Additional Skills:

  • Strong product knowledge and passion for mixology and bar service.
  • Energetic, approachable and calm under pressure.
  • Exceptional multitasking and time management abilities.
  • High attention to detail in drink presentation, cleanliness and guest interaction.
  • Collaborative team player with leadership potential.
  • Familiarity with Okanagan wines, local spirits and regional beers is a plus.
