About the role
The Opportunity
The MRI Technologist, under the general supervision of the area supervisor and department manager is responsible for the operation of the MRI and accessory equipment requiring minimum supervision, independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative. Performing MRI procedures for the purpose of medical diagnosis including: assessing requisitions for appropriate examinations; obtaining pertinent history and screening patients for MRI safety and possible contrast reactions, providing patient care and monitoring of patients, selecting techniques and positioning patients; post-processing acquired images, maintaining an MRI safe environment and providing MRI safety education, practicing sterile techniques when required; and performance of clerical duties related to the care of the patient including ensuring the accuracy and transfer of data to PACS.
Compensation: $36.8761 - $44.1101/hr
Successful external applicants will be eligible to receive a one-time Signing Bonus of $5,000. In turn, a Return of Service will be required for the duration of the assignment.
Hours of Work
Daytime and evening hours (75 hours biweekly). On-call after hours and weekends rotation
Your Qualifications
• Graduate of a recognized school of Medical Radiation Technology required with CAMRT certification in MRI.
• Current or eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) required.
• Successful completion of a Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Basic Life Support (BLS) Program in the last 12 months required or successful completion of a BLS Renewal Challenge Certificate required.
• Demonstrated ability to make independent technical decisions and work as part of an interdisciplinary team, required.
• Must be willing to obtain continuing education.
• Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Competencies in other languages an asset.
