We are seeking an experienced Manager of Quality Management System (QMS) to lead and oversee Lumentum global QMS initiatives. This role ensures a consistent, effective, and compliant quality system strategy across all company locations worldwide.
As head of QMS, this role will drive compliance with international standards, foster continuous improvement, and promote a culture of quality excellence. Leading a team of QMS Engineers, this role collaborates cross-functionally to align quality practices with business objectives. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of driving operational excellence, leading global teams, and ensuring compliance with international quality standards.
Key Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain a global QMS framework aligned with company strategy, business objectives and compliant with ISO 9001 and TL 9000 and applicable regulatory standards.

Establish and maintain standardized processes, procedures, and documentation across all sites.

Own and manage the Global Change Control team, including governance of Engineering Change Orders (ECO), workflows, and lifecycle processes.

Drive ISO 9001 and TL 9000 implementation, certification, and ongoing compliance, including management of required metrics and reporting.

Prepare for global audit readiness; own ISO and TL 9000 audits, as well as support for customer and regulatory audits.

Build and manage a robust internal audit and external (Contract Manufacturers) audit programs, including auditor qualification and governance.

Own TL 9000 measurement systems, data integrity, and reporting (e.g., QuEST Forum)

Partner with cross-functional teams (Operations, Business Units, Sales, Supply Chain, IT, etc.,) to embed QMS into business processes.

Govern document control, change management, CAPA, training, and risk management processes.

Define and monitor QMS performance metrics and provide executive-level reporting.

Support digital transformation of QMS tools and systems (e.g., PLM system).

Act as Management Representative for certification external auditors, and the primary escalation point for quality system and change control related risks.

Be the point of contact for completion of customer questionnaires and surveys on QMS.

This role requires ~10% travel; typically 1-week per quarter to other Lumentum sites and headquarters to support external audits and other cross-functional projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of quality management experience, with 5+ years in a leadership role overseeing global operations.
- In-depth knowledge of QMS principles, international quality standards (ISO 9001, TL 9000). Knowledge of other standards is a plus.
- Proven ability to implement and manage QMS in a multi-site global environment.
- Experience in Change Control, ECO/MCO processes and PLM systems is required.
- Proven experience in leading global audit & certification processes. Lead Auditor / External Auditor certification is preferred. ASQ certification is a plus.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Experience in Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
- Certified Lead Auditor, CQE, or similar credentials.
