The Opportunity

We are seeking Mill Services Superintendent to support our Whitby plant. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Mill Services Superintendent will organize and direct all safety, quality, and productivity requirements for the department, focusing on Effluent treatment and Boiler systems with the Boiler Chief and Production Engineer as direct reports working in conjunction with the Maintenance Planners and other indirect reports.

What you'll do

  • Focus on TPM (total productive manufacturing) working as a team completing RCAs to eliminate failure points and driving towards our environmental compliance and uptime goals.

  • Promotes and ensures a safe work environment and a safety conscious work force, drive towards zero injuries and proactively investigate and report any incidents.

  • Assure that the highest environmental standards are incorporated within each area of responsibility.

  • Oversee the Effluent treatment and Boilers, implement operating and maintenance changes that will improve the mill efficiency and competitiveness.

  • Ensure production safety and quality goals are communicated and achieved and follow up with correct action as required.

  • Monitor, evaluate, and review performance of employees. Train and develop team members for improved performance and succession plans.

  • Practice effective communication, attend supervisor meetings, coordinate any relevant activities with other departments and provide regular updates to the team.

  • Deal with employee relation issues promptly, consistently, and fairly to ensure a positive work environment.

  • Active involvement in continuous improvement activities, special projects, and report preparation as required by Senior Management

  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in a related Effluent treatment environment, and or Pulp and Paper.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills

  • Strong ability to balance priorities, make informed decisions and ensure follow through.

  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, ability to prepare reports and present at meetings.

  • Must have the ability to be flexible with time management in the event of critical events

  • Ability to liaise with all levels of management and unionized employees
