What You’ll Be Doing Reporting to the VP Canadian Retail Banking Compliance, the Senior Director, Compliance provides highly specialized expertise, advice, strategy, and independent monitoring and oversight regarding regulatory compliance for the assigned business area(s), being Regulatory Compliance Management and Reporting and Analytics
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 2-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote. How You’ll Succeed
- Regulatory advisory - Advise business management on regulatory compliance, assess new initiatives, and communicate regulatory changes and risks.
- Policy oversight - Analyze and develop compliance policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with evolving laws and industry standards.
- Issue resolution - Oversee and resolve complex compliance issues, escalate significant risks, and implement corrective actions as required.
- Regulator engagement - Manage regulatory relationship, inquiries and investigations, coordinate responses, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Consistency of Delivery - Ensure the consistency of timely, accurate and complete reports that are submitted to the regulators, senior management and the Board of Directors
- Risk Assessment - Lead the completion of comprehensive risk assessments, advise oncompliance measures, escalate regulatory risks, and coordinate remediation and deficiency management.
- Leadership - Lead and develop staff, set clear expectations, foster a positive culture, and ensure compliance with organizational standards.
Who You Are
- You can demonstrate experience in Audit, Internal Control, Legal or Compliance for a financial institution and have advanced knowledge of regulatory/compliance policies, procedures and methodologies, sufficient to draft strategies and provide leadership in resolving major regulatory compliance issues.
- You are an effective communicator. You have well-developed interactive and interpersonal skills sufficient to convey complex issues and nuances in regulatory risk assessment of issues and interpretation of regulatory requirements to various levels within CIBC, including executives. You have the ability to communicate and influence assertively, clearly and concisely, both in writing and verbally.
- Your influence makes a difference. You know that relationships and networks are essential to success. You have demonstrated ability/experience interacting with senior executives and business leaders as a strategic level and assist them in defining and resolving regulatory related problems/issues.
- You understand that success is in the details. You notice things that others don't. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making.
